Like so many others, I will miss his humour and his skill in imparting his extensive aeronautical knowledge. RIP

Very sad.
I learnt a lot from his well-informed contributions and enjoyed his humour.
Two of my favourites:

Bomber Command Memorial thread -
Storminnorm: I lived next door to a chap in Luton who was taken prisoner in Italy in 1944,(?). He came originally from Dresden. I asked him once if he ever went back there. He told me that there was no point going back because there was no one left of his family.
Gainsey: That's just awful.
Nobody should have to live in Luton.
RN Sub run aground thread in the Mil forum -
HMS Astute had already broken new ground (excuse the pun) by catching fire several times while being built. Thus BAE is the first to develop both the self-igniting submarine and the planeless aircraft carrier.
Where do we find such genius?

Very sad news

I always enjoyed his wit and knowledge on so many subjects.

A sharper come back I have not seen on these forums or anywhere

He also had an afffinity to the African bush and African people which I have also enjoyed
