Correct sabredog.

Picture taken while learning to fly a Bell 47.
Wonderful helicopter and wonderful scenery.

OK. If you are sure, it's yours. I know it was taken in that vicinity, in 1966.

That was the same trip where an old pub was tracked down and identified in one of the more astounding cases of internet usefulness in my own experience, right here on this very thread.

Anyone know what it looks like 45 years later?

I am not sure at all, finfly1. Just looks like Canterbury to me. I was in there for a few days once. Raining all the time. Looks like High Street, Canterbury. Because of the rain the streets are full of water. People use boats instead of cars. And they have to swim to the pub.

OK. Update. Now I AM sure you are correct. I put dunking stool canterbury into a search engine and got dozens of photos confirming that this is the river Stout etc.

And...it looks like my photo (off a 35mm slide) is printed backwards!

That's in the Dordogne, France, I think it's called Rocamadour .... need to Google to check spelling.

(Maybe I was a bit hasty - I'm not so sure now! It looks more Spanish)

It looks like the Liberation Monument in Budapest, but I don't recall the terrain looking like that. It's on Gellert Hill ...... need to Google.

Edit : Having Googled ............ it's what I said.

A picture I took of it :

A cheeky version :

You are correct, Capetonian. The picture is taken from a boat on the Danube.
