Who is that in the pic!?!?
My mom. Would you like to meet her?

In reality though it's Jennifer Lopez.

Fortunately, Magnus, J Lo is NOT my mom. Otherwise that might be construed as incest, considering what naughty thoughts I get whenever I see her!

There was something mentioned on the TV over here a couple of weeks ago where someone is proposing to split California up into 6 states. Presumably this would mean an extra 10 Senators (I think; they are 2 per state?) and possibly more Congressmen (although they are on a per capita basis I think so the current number might be split pro-rata).

This would, I presume, alter the balance of power in the Senate so any comments (or is it just Californian loonies at it again?).

Why would you believe that such a proposal is credible?

Because the report said someone is raising signatures for a petition. And, as far as I know, if sufficient numbers of people in California sign the petition it has to be voted on in a referendum. And, if then, the majority vote for it it can become law.

(Assuming what I understand the situation to be is correct) After that I don't know what would, or could, happen.

LW50:

You might want to do some research into this splitting up of Californication thing as it seems the signatures on petitions are growing rapidly. Not sure how it would all work out in the long run though. Does a State have the Constitutional right to do such a thing?

Biggest waste of tax payer money in USA history.

Time to get rid of these non producing TSA that cant even think whats important or how to move a safe airplane!
Passed all background checks, retired military, known crew member badge.
Yet some TSA, Too Stupid for Arbys did this.
Amen, Deacon!

With respect, RG, one state (CA) is inefficient.
Six states is even more inefficient.

But look at it this way: if Cali splits itself into 6 states, then all the fruit cakes can have a slice for themselves!!

Splitting up Cali would require Congressional approval, see Art. 4, Section 3. Yes, ten new Senators and seeing as much of Cali is RED once you leave LA and San Fran, it might change things.

California is already in six states.

State of Confusion
State of Decay
State of Flux
State of Shock
State of Emergency
State of Denial

But it's all a State of mind.

Thanks for elaborating. However I am confused. "State of Confusion"?
I didn't think that was a physical state, so to speak, as I enter that state on a daily basis upon arising in the morning, and settle back down to that state after retiring at night. As a matter of fact, it probably stays that way all day because on occasion a colleague will ask me: "Are you okay? You look confused."

Attorney General Eric Holder has been rushed to a Washington D.C. area hospital due to shortness of breath, dizziness and chest pains.

Gee, I hope he doesn't drop dead of a massive heart attack. That would be such a bless....... shame.

"We have to pass the bill, so you can find out what's in it." -- Nancy Pelosi

"It will be of little avail to the people if the laws be so voluminous that they cannot be read, or so incoherent that they cannot be understood." -- James Madison.

Amazing how a federal government which was established by a group of highly intelligent and patriotic founding fathers, with only the good of the people in mind, has so relatively quickly descended into a mob of highly unintelligent dumb asses in it only to line their own filthy pockets.
