Uhhhh, no. Never tried to go to Cuba. I have met a few Cubans before though. Back in the early 80's. However, they weren't exactly, shall we say, friendly. Matter of fact, they were downright hostile.

This past Monday, the story broke via taped remarks of one of the prime eggheads behind Obamacare noting that the law was deliberately crafted to incorporate lies and misleading data in order to confuse "the stupid American citizen."

He walked it back the next day, but three (3) more occassions where he has said essentially the same thing have since been found.

The Administration is adopting the "who me?" approach.

Nancy Pelosi denied publicly knowing who this guy is, that he worked on the bill, or that he even meant what he said.

Basic journalistic research found his studies including crediting his work on her Congressional website. Further, tape of her quoting his work, by name has also been easily found.

Near complete journalistic blackout in the TV networks and the liberal press - NYT, Washington Post, Boston Globe, Chicago Tribune, etc.

Krauthammer's analysis last night was spot on - have hearings next year when the GOP controls both Houses, simply play the tapes, then ask Dr. Gruber to explain himself.

No grandstanding, no hyperventilating trying to get on TV by the Congress, just let the tapes and the Dr. speak of the disdain and condesencion of academia and liberals towards the American people.

They know better than us and must save us from ourselves.

Where do we get such 'help' besides the American limosine liberal?

Hint: that's sarcasm.

for the current malaise of Political Correctness will see that enemy allowed to encroach inexorably upon the Western way of life until their ongoing demands turn that way of life into something unrecognisable.
Dark Knight will be interested in this then...Montgomery County MD School Board has cancelled Christmas...to be unfair to Muslims, allegedly. Curiouser and curiouser....

For those of you diverting this thread towards climate change/warming, the thread on that matter is over yonder.

Yes, its as much politics as science, but so's the thread in question.

As to the Obama care lie fest, that this is news to anyone ought to surprise me, but of course it doesn't.

A "defiant" Obama has stated that amnesty for illegal immigrants "is going to happen before the end of the year."

Who the f*** does he think he is? What a piece of..... work.

Approval for the Keystone pipeline has just passed the House and is now headed for the Senate. Believe it or not, it looks like the Keystone pipeline will be approved in the Senate by 61 votes. In other words, veto proof.

So, will President Obama sign the bill or will this be the first issue that he is going to fight the Republican controlled Congress.

My guess is that he will sign the bill for a couple of reasons.

One to show that he is willing to work with Congress (ha, ha).

Two to save his fight(s) with Congress over something that he thinks he can win.

I think Harry Reid is really going to regret his 51 vote “nuclear option” rule change he made in congress. Talk about something that will come back and bite the Democrats in the buttocks.

I believe veto-proof is 67 votes. Sixty votes is only filibuster-proof.

I agree, and hope Republicans milk everything they can from Harry's nuclear option. If they don't I'll be disappointed, and angry.

I'm sure that the above will be the lead story on NBC Nightly News with Brian Williams tonight.

Oh wait, we have a Democrat in the White House.

Never mind.

Mark my words, President Dumb F*** will veto the Keystone Pipeline bill. I guarantee it. (Which presupposes it will make it out of the Senate.)

I think you are correct about the veto, however, under Harry Reids "nuclear option" rule change, it only takes 51 votes to end a filfbuster.

I just checked the veto;

If all 435 members of the House of Representatives votes, then at least 290 must vote to override. If all 100 Senate members vote, then at least 67 must vote for the veto. A two-thirds vote is technically considered a supermajority, which is much more difficult to get than a traditional simple majority. Fewer than 10 percent of all presidential vetoes have been overridden by a vote in the chambers of Congress.
So you are quite correct.

As far as I can tell, Mary Landrieu's re-election (or not) will make no difference to the critical vote margins in the 114th Congress, as the D's will have 45(+2) with her and 44(+2) without.
Thus, the President is not going to sacrifice his key policies for her re-election campaign, and so is more likely to veto Keystone XL.
Then, can Mary Landrieu get sufficient Democrat Senate votes to override the Presidential Veto, namely 21 + herself?

Time to crack open a can, open the popcorn, and watch

Mary Landrieu
Yes she is pulling all the stops on this runoff, hell I think she is saying now that she has never heard of President Obama.

We need that pipeline. Cushing, Oklahoma is the largest oil storage facility in the United States and it is full. Without the Keystone pipeline oil is being moved out of Cushing by rail and truck, both means are many times more dangerous than using a pipeline.

But it is politically correct to oppose anything that might benefit the oil and gas industry. Common sense enters not into this.

It's a political habit that is part of American heritage and history.
It goes back to John D Rockefeller and trust busting in the late 1800's.
Oil Industry as bogeyman is older than I am. It's almost a political reflex.

And in President Obama's case, it's him pandering to a particular constituency, not an understanding of logistics, supply, demand, economics, energy security, safety, facts, or anything of substance.

Google 'Richard Brunt's letter to Americans' for a little something to ruin your appetite for your evening repast. 'Course, he is from British California which explains a lot.

Nothing to do with "politically correct to oppose oil and gas" Con. Guess who owns the railroad that is used? Does the name Warren Buffet mean anything to you? Why do you think he sank millions into the empty shirt. He expects something, safety and environment be damned.

So DNC Propaganda Talking Points with Brian Williams opens with snow, frat house death, nuclear arsenal recall, but not a word on Keystone.

Shocked, I am shocked, I tell you.
