This has shades of KAL 007 all over it, but not due to an organized group of people (the Russian armed forces) but a bunch of disorganized .

30 American dead ... does that blood price spur Obama to action or, because they must be rich people and deserve it, leave him cold?

We shall see.

I'm immune to any Palestinian pleas for humanitarian consideration.
Yes, you probably are sadly.

I doubt Welfare man will ever act.
His lower parts would not get excited with a truck load of Viagra.
No wonder duck face wife wants a divorce.
When he should have been on the phone with NATO, launching a team to get those Flight Data Recorders, he allowed the rebels to get them, to be handed over to Russia,
Well we all know we can sure trust them!
Seems what I watched today Putin even informed him of this while he was eating ribs and campaigning.
What he said hours later on TV was just useless.
CBS seems to think he is taking calm approach.
This airplane was flying at 33,000 feet with a transponder.
The missile that took them down is not some low tech one, the launchers can identify Friend or FO, not a mistake.
Israel started there ground war today, things sure are going to shxt fast.
Once again our useless commander in chief steps on his dick and takes sick Stupidity leave.
Sick leave should be all used up now, time for impeachment.

Where Did Fux News Putin Loving Clips Go

A month ago I could not look at anything without some Republican/Fox controller fawning over the strong Vlad.

Where have these clips gone?

Now I see it is definitely the Fox/Rep/Putin agenda! An Aids cure is not in their agenda.

From the Staits:

SYDNEY (AFP) - Many of the passengers who died when a Malaysia Airlines plane crashed in Ukraine were heading to the 20th International Aids Conference in Melbourne, officials said on Friday. - See more at: Malaysia Airlines MH17 crash: 'Many' on plane heading to Melbourne Aids conference

I guess you will next raise the chance of it being done by the Israelis to take the attention off Gaza?

Its a inevitable F$%k up, thats all. They just need to know who's it was.

It seems Obama has done a Bush.

Made a 40 second comment and then went back to telling jokes
and left it to everyone else to front the media.

Another scandal on the way

Microcosm Of A Nation: President Obama Continues Fundraising, Even As The World Literally Burns - Downtrend
Microcosm Of A Nation: President Obama Continues Fundraising, Even As The World Literally Burns
Someone in Ukraine shot down a Malaysia Airlines flight that contained 295 innocent human beings. Over in the Middle East, Israel launched a ground invasion into Gaza only hours after Hamas foolhardily violated a ceasefire that had been reached only hours earlier. And yet President Barack Obama continues to fundraise as if nothing ever happened.

Senator Rand Paul might be the king of isolationism, but I would like to think that even he would know better than to act as detached as our current leader, who according to the Daily Caller made his first public comments about the downing of Malaysia Airlines Flight MH17 earlier this afternoon while campaigning in Delaware:

“Obviously, the world is watching reports of a downed passenger jet near the Ukraine border. And it looks like it may be a terrible tragedy.”

Excuse me, Mr. President, but this does not merely “look” like a terrible tragedy. It IS a terrible tragedy when 295 men, women and children lose their lives.

Regardless, the president continued to talk about the crash for about 35 more seconds, after which he returned to his prepared speech, which the Daily Mail reports included plenty of hearty jokes.

Irony? Even Piers Morgan felt offended by President Obama’s overt indifference:
Irony? Even Piers Morgan felt offended by President Obama’s overt indifference:

President Obama massively dropped the ball just now. 23 Americans killed and he says ‘it looks like a terrible tragedy’ then back to jokes?

— Piers Morgan (@piersmorgan) July 17, 2014

The president than stopped by the Charcoal Pit near Wilmington to not only order a burger and fries, but to also participate in a previously scheduled photo-op, reports Breitbart.

According to the Wall Street Journal, ‘No Drama’ Obama then flew to New York City “for a pair of planned Democratic fundraising events, the first of which had about 30 people contributing up to $32,400.”

Charming . . .

So how do I think that President Obama should have responded? Cue Kathleen ‘KT’ McFarland, American communications consultant and former Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense for Public Affairs under President Ronald Reagan, who, while speaking on the Sean Hannity radio program earlier today, suggested that he “needs to be in the Situation Room” for starters.

Unfortunately, the president of the United States refuses to genuinely take anything seriously. It just so happens that many citizens of our great nation feel the exact same way.
Example 1: According to Mediate, a Howard Stern fan pranked MSNBC by pretending to be a a Staff Sgt who had seen Malaysian Airlines Flight MH17 crash.

Example 2: According to the Blaze, Hollywood actor Jason Bigs felt it okay to make inappropriate jokes about the downing of the flight.

Example 3: According to the Daily Caller, fans of “The Young and the Restless” soap opera complained when their beloved show got preempted by coverage of the tragedy.

Sighs.

Fox News analyst Bill O’Reilly frequently claims that Obama has donned an air of detachment – that he seems to not care about anything anymore. I hate to say it, but the president’s public actions and words confirm this assessment to a perfect T. Even sadder still is that the president’s stoic demeanor serves as a perfect microcosm of the apathy and detachment that pervades our entire nation, from coast to coast. If Obama wants his presidency to mean something, he needs to stop playing around and start giving a damn. It might not necessarily save his crumbling legacy, but it would hopefully at least show the nation that the blatant murder of 295 innocent human beings is nothing to mock – nothing to joke about – and nothing to take lightly. Neither are sectarian conflicts.

There is a lot of criticism of Obama's lack of action on the shoot down of MA17. I am curious what people think he should do. McCain sounds like he would like to invade Russia or possibly nuke them, but that seems a little extreme to me.

There's a sh!t load that could have all been done and still could be done to undermine the Russian game plan. There was no need for the Ukraine to be in this mess. There still is things that could be done, it would really piss of the Russians though.

It is legitimate Ukrainian territory, they could invite who ever they like in there as armed peace keepers. See if Moscow keeps playing the game and sending weapons then. As some commentators and analysts have said, its getting to the stage where the rebels are better armed than the Ukrainians.

People that defend Obama about saying next to nothing and promising nothing tell us that Obama should not get ahead of the facts. They ignore every other instance where he does so like when he said the Cambridge Cops acted stupidly and If he had a Son he would look like Trayvvon. (Two immediate examples of his being incredibly stupid when it involves Blacks).

He devoted 38 seconds in a speech about highway infrastructure funding....and immediately went on to tell jokes and do photo ops while headed to two Democrat Party Fund Raisers.

Compare that to Ronald Reagan ending a Vacation stay at his Ranch in California, donning a Suit and Tie then making a National address from the White House about the situation when KAL 007 was shot down.

Reagan was a Leader.....Welfare Man is a Community Organizer in a job he cannot handle.

indeed, this could be Obama's Katrina moment. Or one of a number of Republican-defined Katrina moments.

In fact, only the other day, someone died....somewhere in the world.....Obama's Katrina moment....apparently.

As an aside, whatever happened to your abortion/murder thread?

Anyone who thinks (I'm talking about you, Obama) the world will be better off with a less assertive, less capable America, just got mugged bt reality.

Nuking Putin maybe a little extreme, but there are many ways to strangle him and his cronies' money. Sanctions and isolation will be powerful, if the Euros stop reverting to their cowardly, authoritarian emotions. Freezing in the dark is superior to feeding the Russian beast who is prepping up to eat you.

Toad,

As Flying Lawyer noted in his post, the Thread was not mine. I posted in a different thread and a Mod elected to split it off into a Thread of its own.

I guess someone in PPRuNe admin is afraid to discuss Abortion and the issues that relate to that.

Probably we shall never know how all that came about, the splitting of the post and the subsequent removal.

Perhaps those on the Left are hard pressed to justify their warped logic when it comes to Abortion and Capital Punishment and just wish to avoid having to defend their position in a debate.

Now admittedly, I see Jet Blast as the exact place for such issues to be argued (in the context of a reasonable, polite, philosophical way of course) but perhaps I am mistaken. Some topics seem to get the hammer very quickly without any explanation.

Rick, and others.

As someone else said, a lot more could be done said without getting ahead of the facts.

But 40 seconds when you have a major tragedy and the Israel / Gaza invasion ?

I bet if it had been a US badge airline it would have been more than 40 seconds.

And we are not talking about "just a crash" but a shoot down and
I am sure that the intel services of the US sent a flash message
to the White House as soon as they knew it.
