I can't bear it. Came in to the office expecting a calm, peaceful atmosphere and the chance to get some good prep done for a (should be easy) client meeting this morning.

Discover that a colleague who is now MEANT to be part time and not working Fridays has turned up, snuffling and carrying germs, to prattle and shuffle paper. I have tried dressing up my invitation to leave in the politest and most caring terms, but the man has the hide of a rhino.

Staple his lips together, Ms SP. Won't stop him snuffling but it'll stop him coughing and prattling on.

Good plan, CP. Wonder if the office stapler will deal with a double thickness of rhino hide?

And if you staple his nostrils down too, then quiet will reign. I'd stand back a good distance though, just in case he over-inflates and goes pop.

Been away for a long weekend. Disasters came in multiples, No landline, no mobile, no wireless broadband due to a new building and some has cloned my credit card and tried to buy about 30 tickets on Lyinair

He said just to forget it and write to Avis claiming back my 30CHF as most people don't.
You've got to keep a watch on the Swiss.

Made a number of flights on Freighters to the States before 911. No problems with catering and a steak and egg breakfast was usually cooked on an old 2-bar electric fire whilst waiting for the final couple of pallets. Just after 10W the FE (who had originally been a chef) produced a chopping board and an impressive array of knives and prepared a salad with a selection of cold meats and ice cream to follow. Not too many liquids as the toilet was full of crew baggage. If you wanted to go, you had to empty it first - the door had disappeared many years before IIRC - and re-stow it all afterwards, SOP was a crew "conference" round the nosegear after landing.

Stockie, how horrid. I think I can see where the root of your problem lies though...

Time to firm up your approach!
Abandon S1, aim for S3

Oi Parabellum! How did you get hold of the pic I sent to Keef? Harrump ... hacking my account ... not right ... report you to the mods I will....

Lon, poor you. Having to deal with that, donīt envy you.

Bit particular the Aged Pater, isnīt he Radz?

JSL & MID thank you so much both; fascinating stuff.

The sainted flyblue has hosted No1Child & the BFG last night, and has now sent them off in her own car to Torino where the BFG will compete in the World University Championship Wrestling. To get down to his fighting weight of 96Kg, the lad has lived on crackers and veggies for a month now. Sportspeople are something else entirely.

Convinced that Iīd get a sweet smelling refund, Iīve been awaiting my first proper Norwegian tax return with baited breath for months now. When it arrived 3 weeks ago, the refund was a paltry sum. After weeks of nagging, last night I finally managed to convince Wiking that this could NOT be right. He got out the papers and we re-checked everything.

So he called the tax inspector today. They couldnīt have been nicer and yes they were so sorry they had made a mistake, hadnīt factored in those 58 000 NOKs income tax I have already paid in Holland, yes of course they will correct it. Please send in a formal complaint.

Busy packing for a week long trip to Scotland, first visit in over a year. Apart from catching up with friends, about the only thing I am looking forward to is a decent curry.

Tax Thieving mongrel bastards. Of course they're sorry but if you hadn't done anything the govt is richer for nothing.

Stockie Tell him to fuggoff home. He won't be offended much and you'll be happier. Result.
Well, ok, he might be offended. Tell him that his snuffling is distracting + unhygienic. This influences the health of the staff and the company. Is there any work he could do from home? If so, go there.

Confront the issue.
State why it's a concern.
Offer an option.

Then kick his arse.

Juud - Nokkie going down quite sharply against the EUR today so keep those crowns for aquavit and whale meat.....not worth changing them at the moment.

Hmmm, North Koreans taking potshots at the south. I've been to the border and a thoroughly depressing place it is too.

Got a flu jab y'day in left arm and a pneumonia jab in right arm. Neither hurt but the starboard one has a lovely bruise which looks like it should be sore.

Dippy Tarts* for Keith.

*Hmm. Might be Navy.

Thanks for the suggestions, folks. The underlying issue is that he doesn't want to retire - so getting him to stay away from the office is going to be difficult, and it's really the boss' job, not mine, to get him to understand how his work patterns have to go.

I did offer him my box of tissues for his snuffles. He gave it back to me, but the snuffles have magically reduced.

jf, I've not even opened my dealing screen today!

Round up a couple of coworkers and collude among yourselves to all take a sickie in a few days. Drop huge hints that you're all feeling crook because you got the snuffles from Cap'n Rhino Pelt.

Exit guilty party stage left...
