Oh dear, jf, we had that problem too, though our granite only took 2 weeks and we were able to use the rest of the kitchen in the meantime, and sinks were able to go in.

You can always put a bit of chipboard in as a temporary work surface JF

Bought a kitchen from Ikea a couple of years ago from Ikea and had the same problem, The fitters had a bit of wood with a sink in it which they took from job to job whilst the stone was cut.

Blues Bros

Spent a very pleasant evening snuggled up with the Sproglettes watching a DVD of the Nutcracker followed by a recently aquired DVD: 'The Blues Brothers'.

Had to play The Blues Brothers' twice and was in fits as 5 yr old Sproglette sang and danced along to Aretha singing 'Freedom' as well as insisting that some other music tracks were played back.

'Nutcracker' is liked but not with the same enthusiasm.

Make sure they bore a couple of holes in your granite worktop so you can bolt a big Vice onto it,one may need to do a bit drilling hack sawing and welding when it's to cold in the shed.

JF We were advised to go to the granite suppliers and pick our bit before it was polished so we got the colour we thought we were getting,(then again you may not have the Mrs 1DC factor who is hard to please and will automatically pick a difficult colour, golden in this case).I was very impressed with the bloke who fitted the top it took him all morning but he was very skilled.
Snow hasn't made it down here yet Mr.D..,not that i'm bothered...

Not a bad suggestion IMO - it's quite benign IIRC.

angels,

When I used to buy the Sunday paper it was quite common to buy it on Saturday evening. As a matter of fact it is part of the ritual going out on Saturday night.

It is going a busy two days in the office before the weekend and the weather is too hot for November.

I found out the result of my professional exams in Saturday's paper, bought at Charing Cross Station at around 11pm Friday. I was at the time in company with a nice young chap who'd been part of the same group killing time in the pub until we could get hold of the papers. We'd both passed. We snogged like crazy for about ten or fifteen minutes, then went separate ways, never saw him again.

Glad you survived your night in hospital, Angels! Here's hoping Doctors figure out an action plan ASAP.

Am currently not in the best of moods. Room Service chaps decided to knock on my door and ask for their breakfast tray back at 1340, smack bang in the middle of pre flight nap. Got told very grumpily that "Do not Disturb" means just that and that I did not consider them wanting their tray back to constitute an emergency! Anyway, I'm not finished with it yet. If I want to eat my toast cold, just before leaving for work, then I will! Of course, bad temper ruined any chance of a few more z's so now have to go and commit all night aviation with no sleep and a smile. Just to add insult to injury, have run out of book to read and one of the lads playing some ball game on the green below the balcony has just whipped off his top to reveal a lily white torso and the physique of a racing snake. Life is just one never ending cycle of disappointments....

Travelling back down the A1 yesterday, after my mission to the holy land, I spotted quite a few of those Highways Agency Traffic Officers in their police look-a-like 4bee4s. Got me wondering, what useful purpose do they serve? The only time I see them is when they are stopping traffic cos someone has had a contre-temps with a tree/crash barrier/another vee-hee-icle. Their web-site says:
re-opening routes as soon as it is safe to do so.
but judging by today's 20-mile tailback in this part of the flatlands they weren't having much success.

We'd both passed.
Congratulations! How well one remembers the grisly and public experience
of learning, by name, exam results from the newspaper. Only in Scotland? you say. It will never happen to me again.

Faggots are officially awesome. I can't get any unless I make them myself and as I'm a lazy toad, then this doesn't happen very often!
Have you tried the Mr Br**n's ones you can buy in most supermarkets? Not bad really.

Cold here but not snowing..Off to Manchester tomorrow to FedEx paperwork.

Funny thing is, Davaar, twenty years on it's the one thing that seems not to have changed - the paper's still the best place to get your prof. exam results, just look for your name and if it's not there...
