"Typical UKIP dip stick", "Knob" were some of my thoughts on Bolton when all this kicked off. This afternoon, my interest was piqued when I heard he had been an Army officer so I did the Wikipedia thing and was surprised. There is a lot more to this man than his public persona would lead one to believe. While he was an officer, it seems he was not commissioned during his regular service but this came after a year or so in the T.A. He was also decorated for bravery as a police officer while serving as a copper and he was awarded an OBE for his work in Afghanistan, post Army service.

He's been around a bit, which is more than his slaggers have been.

How much is correct, how much incorrect?

I now and again get emails from a relative that include a bit of a wind up.
A lot of things used to wind people up are "a little true and a little false" and I am not from the UK. So, what in this is correct, and what is not? Please don't get upset at the question, just trying to get a calibration check on this list of numbers and so called "statistics." I am pretty sure that this point is the wind up, so I'll pull it out of the email:
This might give you a better understanding of the insidiousness of hijrah .......that's the takeover of a nation without going to war.
I hear "battle of the cradle" rhetoric here in Texas now and again and I deem that this is a similar theme that gets repeated over and over. OK, now on to the so called statistics:
Number one name for a male child born in England and Wales is Mohammed. (True or False?)
Mayor of London .. Muslim (True or False?)
Mayor of Birmingham ... Muslim (True or False?)
Mayor of Leeds ... Muslim (True or False?)
Mayor of Blackburn .. Muslim (True or False?)
Mayor of Sheffield ... Muslim (True or False?)
Mayor of Oxford ... Muslim (True or False?)
Mayor of Luton ... Muslim (True or False?)
Mayor of Oldham ... Muslim (True or False?)
Mayor of Rochdale ... Muslim (True or False?)
(And does it really matter? Bad enough they are politicians ...)

"All the following achieved by just 4 million Muslims out of the 66 million population:" (whatever that means?)
Over 3,000 Muslim Mosques (True or False?)
Over 130 Muslim Sharia Courts (True or False?)
Over 50 Muslim Sharia Councils (True or False?)
'Muslims Only' No-Go Areas Across The UK (True or False?)
Muslim Women...78% don't work and are on FREE benefits/housing (True or False?)
(How the heck does one come up with this particular stat if they aren't in the work force? )
Muslim Men...63% don't work and are on FREE benefits/housing (True or False?)
(How the heck does one come up with this particular stat if they aren't in the work force? )
Muslim Families...6-8 children planning to go on FREE benefits/housing and now all UK schools are ONLY serving HALAL MEAT! (True or False?)

--------------------------------------------

One of the ways to get people wound up is to mix half truths with things not true, with the objective of betting that the audience won't catch the differences. What's the percentage score on this one in terms of wheat and chaffe?

If they don't show up in employment stats. and are drawing benefit then they will show up in the 'Benefit' stats. It looks as though the assumption has been made that whoever produces this data does know total numbers in the country.

Your email sender got it from social media which, given the subject, is designed to wind up. Did they or you fall for it? (True or False)

The number one name for a male child born in the UK *is* Mohammed (or some variation of spelling there-of). This is probably driven by the fact that about 50% of Muslim males seems to be called Mohammed though, whereas other groups tend to have a bit more variety in their names!

Lonewolf...

A rare appearance this side of the political pond then....but always welcome because we aren't quite so discriminatory as to outside views and opinions over here....other than when the chaps here on JB take exception to socialists, liberals and Guardian readers views that is....

Sadly though, as has been illustrated for you, as they say in deepest Yorkshire....".Eeh, yer daft ha'peth."

To save any confusion, and as an American you may be relieved to learn the rest of the UK are equally confused when it comes to Yorkshire and the population therein, in English, erm, you've been had.

Of course, if you are a Mail reader, resident in the UK or, say, Australia for example, then the content you posted will be viewed as the pristine truth....and no amount o factual evidence to the contrary will persuade them otherwise.

The idea of "Muslim Mosques" tickled me. Everyone knows there are far more Church of England mosques! Well, I am allowed to make it up just like others!

Isn't that the official role and function of an opposition party?

Sadly the governing party also appear to be taking on that role.

It would take a heart of stone not to feel sorry for Henry Bolton, the leader of the UK Independence party. The poor chap the latest through a rapidly revolving door has had to dump his new girlfriend after she was revealed to have sent a stream of appallingly racist texts about black people in general, and Meghan Markle in particular. This is rough luck. If there is one person in Britain who ought to be able to have a racist girlfriend without it getting in the way of his day job, it should be the leader of Ukip.

This surely is political correctness gone mad. We often hear politicians telling us there is no place for racism in society but if there were a place for racism, I would have thought that Ukip might be it. Picking on the leader of the party because his girlfriend is racist seems a bit like denouncing the head of the Greens for being married to a gardener.

Unlike your habit of barging in on the other side. As I stated clearly, I am trying to get a calibration on how close or how far off any of that is. I don't normally pay much attention to that stuff -- we have a variety of our own memes and "but it's true" emails (full of half truths mostly) making the rounds.
I wanted to get a read on it from people in the UK, and unlike you, I am not passing judgment on anything.

You know, one may be forgiven for thunking tha's just a bit miffed with the responses to your earnest question.

Barging in you say ?.....well I wasn't aware questions and opinions now had to be tabled in advance for scrutiny and approval thereafter. Is there a Congressional Bill or an executive order we in the UK may have missed here ?

Passing judgement ?.....alas, tis but a side effect of thinking for myself, a lifelong failing in the eyes, and minds, of many...and... coming from Manchester....we don't always bother with the finer points of social etiquette when offering opinions you understand. Maybe you should pop over and visit the fair City...I would be delighted to show you around....seriously.

I do hope though that this little excursion, whilst not as joyous and productive as you may have wished for, will deter you from future visits.

sitigeltfel: Does the idiot that created those statistics have a source? Mr Rosindell himself is not a credible source. His own record in Parliament disbars him from any credibility. However, he presumably got them from somewhere and, while I can not find the precise source, I have found 2 sources that come close to being the culprits: An overtly racist idiot on Twitter, going by the name of "English Patriot" and that good old right wing favourite, Breitbart.
A better source might be the ONS. They show national crime rates and a couple picked out from that shows homicide has a 0% increase (nationally) and an increase in offences of rape of 28% (again, nationally). The figure for homicide is interesting; if the national rate shows a nil increase, then for London to have a 27% increase, then some areas must have experienced massive decreases and I would have thought that such big decreases would have garnered some attention. But they don't.
Rosindell's post, whatever the source, is, in my opinion, nothing more than a racist, rant with very little, if any, foundation.
Why not retract it or risk being tarred with the same brush as this "English patriot" and his ilk? (Katie Hopkins is one of his followers)

Ah, genetics .....

Boris Johnson 'is descendant' of mummified Basel woman - BBC News

You can certainly see the connection.....same vacuous expression and open gob.

And, of course, Boris offering his own more contemporary version of mercury poisoning with regard to his political aspirations and his own party.

You were saying? The Duchess of Grenfell has tweeted this...

Emma Dent Coad

@emmadentcoad
Replying to @emmadentcoad

In London knife offences up 23%, robberies up 30%, 14% jump in vehicle thefts and break-ins and tragically a 19% increase in killings. Half of the 20% national rise in gun crime reported in London as well. Things are going backwards under the Tories.

Sits Vac.

" Due to unforeseen circumstances, a position will shortly arise for the post of Prime Minister. No specific qualifications are required for this post, but it would be desirable if candidates had poor levels of communication and interpersonal skills, a complete lack of understanding as to domestic political issues and no leadership skills.

This post carries with it sponsored housing, free travel and the opportunity to become enshrined in the history of the UK.

Selection will be by interview and the successful candidate will be able to demonstrate a high level of incompetence during their career to date. "
