Climate Camp at Heathrow

They have now started setting up and are off Sipson lane to the North of the airport.
Just thought i'd post this up so those travelling to work at Heathrow this afternoon and tomorrow are aware there may be traffic problems etc.. mainly to the north of the perry track.

Thanks for the 'heads up'.

Could those of you in the area keep us overseas based crews posted until it ceases please?

Mum gets confused enough picking me up on a good day!

As most of these morons do not work can they not have their benefits withdrawn as they are not looking for work? or even better can the airlines black list them so they can never fly again?

Devil

Can see the tents quite clearly from our control tower; not that many at the mo, but radio news reckons about 1500 campers (!) are heading towards the site for tuesday.
Don't theses fools realise that the delays and disruption caused to motor vehicles and possibly (let's hope not) aircraft will lead a an increase in pollution. Also, i bet much, if not all, of their camping gear, hemp and other crap came to the UK from some far flung country by........ you guessed it, AIRCRAFT!
Maybe what they need is for a 747 to carry out a late go-around from 27R with a hard right turn, over their camp...hmmm

It looks like they will get a good dose of 'climate'.
The Met Office has issued a severe weather warning for Tuesday/Wednesday.

I saw a car (not even a hybrid) the other day with a bumper sticker that said "Question Internal Combustion".

State Benefits

When some unlamented thicko called "Swampy" was sodding about with his friends re the Newbury By-Pass, DSS, or whatever it was called then, sent a mobile office out to the protest camp to pay the spongers their benefits!

Lets hope it does poor it down over the next few days as the "stinkies" could do with it. Perhaps instead of benefits the government should just issue soap and toiletries (at least that would give us fresher smelling air).

When the same crew tried to obstruct the building of the dualled A30 at Fairmile in Devon, the Deputy Sheriff, a drily humorous solicitor from Exeter, arranged for their benefits to be paid from a village PO a mile or two away.

He then sent a representative to the site saying that the cash was ready for collection. Out streamed the protestors with little cries of joy, and 5 minutes later the Police occupied the now empty camp.

End of protest.

Why all this fuss over 1.5-3% (depends whos numbers you use) of the carbon immisions.

What do this lot intend to do about the other 97% of carbon? I would guess they have no idea!!

The fact is this bunch won't work so that they can afford a holiday so they are hell bent on stopping any one else having a week or two in the sun.

These people have nothing to add to the debate on climate change, the only aim of this lot is to have a punch up with the police and wreck other peoples lives with silly antics.

Is this organised by a group that should be called Plain Stupid ?
I find their mindless assumption that they must be right and therefore can disrupt thousands of people going about their lawful business to be so far from reality that I am starting to get annoyed! They appear to be of the same order of sub humanity as the anti vivisection numpties. I expect Cherie Blair to arrive back from Barbados and stride into their compound eager in aiding their cause! Tony Blair and his cronies have brought us nearly to our knees.
Thunderstorms and a local tornado might ease the situation.

Rational thought doesn't really come into the equation when half of them are lying up in a hemp tent, puffing the magic dragon.
I wonder if the policing of this 'event' will include a crackdown (pardon the pun) on the drugs that these uncouth ruffians will inevitably be consuming.

F*****g hippies.

I know it would never happen but if some "heavy" could just dump fuel over these morons. Think on the bright side though come September they will all be off to their red brick universities

I was thinking that August tends to be a great month for protests at LHR be it the caterers or the ground staff so its almost inevitable that the environmentalists will join in the fun after the Summer Solstice and the other festivals what a better way to annoy people than congregate at Heathrow.

I have to use LHR next week on business (I am flying with LH to Frankfurt) and no doubt the great unwashed will disrupt things. Only good news is that the weather might make things tricky for them this week which pleases me.

What is the betting that after their protest they will complain / start litigation to BAA about the noise that they have suffered?

I for one hope that the buggers have their dole and other benefits stopped (since they can't be looking for work).

..."Swampy"...
Heard that he'd died. Apparently he had a congenital heart defect. The cardiologist had offered him a bypass but well, you know...he refused.

I know, door, coat, etc

It's funny the way these cliched stereotypes are so easily banded about and yet I never heard the petrol protestors described in those terms, despite the massive dispruption to the country they caused 6 or 7 years ago.
The enviromental debate is one that interests all walks of life (on both sides of the argument) and I wouldn't be surprised if many members of HACAN, for example, are a lot more affluent than you or I.

Petty name calling might be acceptable for Jet Blast but perhaps a thread in Rumours and News deserves accurate facts to aid Heathrow staff and passengers or at the very least a bit of reasoned debate.

Yeah, and good riddance if it does (get removed to JetBlast). What do you think this is, the Daily Mail forum or something?

I hope I never suffer the misfortune of flying with any of the bigots posting above who by some failure of the screening process managed to become professional pilots.
