I don't think that was what she meant

English grammar and spelling discussed in another thread here, but am I the only one confused by this?
A 38-year-old fitness instructor has developed the first
pole dancing class for children. Laraine Riddell teaches
these classes to adults and now looks to teach the children
to strut their stuff on the pole. This aerobic activity
includes spinning up and down the pole, but Riddell claims
there is nothing sexual about it, it only serves to benefit
the children with lifting and resistance work to build muscle.
However, Pole dancing though almost directly synonymous with
stripping, sends the wrong message to our children. The
Children's charity Kidscape in Choppington, Northumberland,
agrees and has condemned the activity. Kidscape director
Michele Elliott said: "Pole dancing is an activity where women
on stage are given money which is stuck in their underwear.
To teach 12-year-old girls pole dancing is out of order. "I
am sure pole dancing is good exercise - but so is stripping.
Strippers have great bodies. By all means give the kids
exercise, but just skip the poles."
Does that mean she wants them to go straight to the stripping?

Well, I suppose ballet classes are pole dancing in a way - only the pole is horizontal.

You are absolutely right - this article was atrociously written. I particularly liked:
Michele Elliott said: "Pole dancing is an activity where women
on stage are given money which is stuck in their underwear.
Sounds good to me - I take money from their underwear and give it to them?

Where did you see it? (I am not going to Google "12-year-old" and "pole dancing". )

Not a google (despite some opinions, I'm not that twisted). It came from Major Geek which is sad enough

At least it teaches them a skill, and that's more than the education system will do for 'em!
