Alitalia Jumpseat?

Hello,

I have been told by many that like Spanair and Iberia, Alitalia will take crewmembers as "extra crew" (aka free jumpseat like usa). Any truth to this?

Re: Alitalia Jumpseat?

Alitalia has been refusing boarding to all "passengers" without a boarding card, even if those "passengers" are CAs and pilots from other airlines.. Might be worth a try, anyway; the worst you can get is a "no". Yet, you might have greater luck with other airlines...

Re: Alitalia Jumpseat?

And I must add that You can have better chance if you show up in uniform and bypass the ramp agent since looks like these are the real problem.
Usually the guys from the Md80 are a lot much cooler and easy going than the ones from the Airbus,so You may want to give a try with them..
Hope this helps

However do check if you are entitled to ZEDs with them... they'll hardly refuse a ride then, even should the plane be full. Almost impossible to get a ride otherwise, hardly enough if you just got off duty.

Re: Alitalia Jumpseat?

AZ Captains are always very willing to offer a cockpit ride (been on the grateful receiving end many times), but you need to have a ZED or other airline agreement ticket. Otherwise, like for most airlines, they are NOT ALLOWED to take "extra crew" and would risk their job if caught.

Re: Alitalia Jumpseat?

It's Zonal Employee Discount.
It's a tarification agreed between airlines for employees.
It works segmenting the world into zones, and establishing a fare according to the zones you fly. In short, the fare is based on a zonal amount and a per-mile charge. There are different levels, like Low, Medium or High. It depends on the agreement between your company and the one you want to fly with.
