Yeah, whatever, you clown.

Funny fact, Clowns in a Circus 25 years ago made more money then a Captain with a LCC makes today in 2020.

So I guess it pays to be a clown, and you save over £100.000 on training.

Don’t worry about the bitter and sarcastic ones mate.

If none of us had had the dream we wouldn’t be here....be careful though as there is a fine line between dreams and nightmares.

As you know , thanks to China, the entire global airline industry is completely shot through . I have in the region of 2000 former colleagues , all with time on Boeing’s , looking for work .

If I get made redundant I expect 5 years out or never to return.

This is why people are like they are about it all - we have leaped into a dark chasm, we don’t know who will be left in a year and there will continue to be massive over supply of pilots. Therefore I imagine all sponsorships , etc , will be on hold indefinitely as airlines don’t like spending money when they can get something cheaper .

Although as I say this , some easyJet cadets are doing circuits up north ( go figure ) , so they are possibly extremely lucky or too far down the training route money wise.

keep the faith and follow your dreams

Don't do it unless you've got 150k euros to blow on a folly.

And spare me the complaining afterwards when you can't get a job because there's 20,000 experienced pilots ahead of you in the queue.

You've been warned.

Logan123987 Definitely look in to finding a way that is most suitable that will fit you. My belief is, and I think every pilot agrees, is that you can never prepare early enough for anything, so also for your career. Focus now on your school, because that is most important now. But as I said, try and look what appeals to you for the future. The market now is not good, but one day it will come back and I believe you are doing a good thing asking questions, don't take the negativity with you because I assume you are wise enough to know that the market now is not what it is supposed to be.

Throughout the world there are loads of different kind of ATO's and all for different prices. See what you want to spend on it, because it will be more likely to be self funded than that an airline will fund you for your training. Also look in to a Plan B (as I have read you were thinking about aeronautical enginering). I did not do that unfortunately.... Now I am employed in Europe on the 737 and still flying but decided to go back to university and get a degree.

It will all come down to your comfort, because it will be your career. One thing you should definitely do, is keep asking questions to people in the aviation world because everybody (except the pessimists) will want to help you.

Good Luck !

I am trying to help him.

If you absolutely insist, do the training in ultra slow time. Maybe wait a year or two until the FTOs are on their asses, and desperate for students. Training costs will drop dramatically hopefully. Then, and only then, start the courses slowly, spread it over several years while you work on an alternate fall back career simultaneously.

Then, in 5-10 years, when the unemployed and experienced pilots have been reabsorbed, enter the market with a fresh frozen ATPL or MPL. The timing might be good then.

However, terms and conditions have and will stay destroyed forever.

I am definitely worse off now than I was 10 years ago, and I've gone from the right to left seat in the same airline!
