Once you completed the reasoning and about you section, were the 4 tasks listed above still displaying red 'start here' 'click here' buttons etc. please?

kettle_of_fish 14th Jan 2024 19:44

I have completed all 3 tests and havent got a rejection email or link to the video interview?

GGL 14th Jan 2024 23:32

Got above average in verbal and numerical and average in logical. Got rejected after 4 minutes. No idea what they are tracking apart from correct answers and time taken given that people passed with worse results than this.

Yep, the top four don’t change.

A lot of people seem completely baffled as to how the pass/rejections could be working on the assessments. A perfectly valid explanation is that it's an overall score with a pass/fail mark. Therefore someone with two above average and one average can beat someone with three above average.
Pretty sure the reports are just the external service anyway, TUI might not even care what your report says. If it is taking a while for your email to come through, I don't think this means your CV is having a manual review, I think the system is automated at this time and the email is just delayed, as happens all the time with email and these systems, particularly when overloaded.

Have you found out any answer to this from TUI? Those tests were definitely challenging, I wonder how many they plan to cut based on just those test results.....

Unrelated, I'm also a BA final-stager (what a great xmas present that was haha!). I see there's quite a few of us on this thread, I'm guessing most of us will have applied to TUI whilst waiting for another crack at the Speedbird Academy!

According to a YouTube video I watched (take it with a pich of salt), last year's TUI numbers were:

6700 applicants
2000 interviews (assuming digital interview?)
30 cadets taken

They didn't mention numbers at the assessment centre but they're planning to run it over 5 days this year, so maybe 80-160 people, where half or so go to the simulation stage? (Pure speculation)

Looking through last year's thread, it looks like a lot more people got through with "lower" scores (we don't know how they're grading it, it's probably a % score on a normal distribution curve averaged on all 3 tests, as 2 people get the same report but only one gets the digital interview).

They closed the TUI applications part way through last year, due to volume of applications, and then re-opened them, so I'm assuming they're tightening the score criteria to not be inundated (I would not envy the recruitment team, it must be very hard to choose people for the assessment centre from far fewer stages!).

I expect a larger number of applicants this year. According to Skyborne, British Airways had 28,000 applicants for Speedbird (and they forecast even more in April) due to the advertisement they did. During research, I'm sure most of these people have found the TUI scheme. Sure, some won't have the money to cover their food/bills over the TUI scheme and some people have an aversion to MPLs, but I don't think that'll be more than 50%. I will be really interested in the number of applications this year, I'm assuming at least 10,000.

Word on the grapevine is TUI are already surpassing last years numbers. Probably prudent to get an application in sooner rather than later...

I'm not surprised with 28,000 applications for Speedbird 4 months ago... Wonder if TUI will still take 30 or if their business model/funding allows for more.

Digital Interview submitted... Was called away for work late last week, so first opportunity to submit was today.

Email said you had 5 days to complete the digital interview starting from the day after you recieve the email (09/01)... today's 15/01... so I'm guessing I'm still in... Got an email after saying thanks for submitting and we'll be in touch, so maybe I've scrapped past the line just in time lol

Have you heard anything this morning? I'm in the same boat, completed the assessments over the weekend.

I assumed as it was the weekend folks weren't reviewing results, but seems that others either received the video interview link or the rejection email automatically...gut feeling says it's a rejection for me, but there's a glitch in the email being sent out as I still don't see the video interview link.

I've emailed recruitment to confirm if this is a glitch, will update here if I find out more.

GentleMolasses 15th Jan 2024 11:52

After emailing the recruitment team I was informed there were some technical issues with the system and a small number of applicants were not automatically informed of the outcome of the assessments.

I was in that boat and after emailing the recruitment team I promptly received a rejection email...was not informed about other potential implications of the technical issue.

Hope this helps those of you in the same situation.

LWebbo 15th Jan 2024 12:01

So I emailed them this morning ([email protected]). It seems their assessment system has been having technical issues so some applicants weren't getting emails. Best to email them directly if you were in the same boat as me.

Didn't make the cut unfortunately, got above average for numerical and verbal but only average for logical reasoning. They let me know this was why I didn't get to the next stage, so if you're yet to complete the assessments and reading this, practice your logical reasoning! Good luck to everyone else!

Was that five days from the second email you received after completing the three assessments?

Also, any tips on prep for the interview? Obviously not expecting you to share the questions - but was in particularly challenging/technical?

MB12 15th Jan 2024 12:37

So I managed to get above average on all three assessments despite going well over 15 mins on numerical reasoning.

I now have the digital interview to do. Does anyone have any advice on roughly how challenging the interview questions are? Obviously not expecting anyone to tell me what the questions were, just want to know how anxious I ought to be.

SIDsVIDs 15th Jan 2024 16:51

TUI application

Does anyone know what the 'About me' section entails before doing tests? Thanks 😊

Shamrock97 15th Jan 2024 19:00

Am I right in saying that there is two cadet programmes. one in the UK and one in Belgium. Can we apply for both ?

If you are a citizen of the EU, have an EU passport and if you can pay 54,000 euros in 3 installments then you can apply to the Belgium one. Different schemes basically

Honestly the questions themselves were not really challenging - no curveballs, all the usual. The challenging bit is the time constraint and trying to record an articulate answer in just two mins.

Just be yourself, I am sure you will be awesome! Good luck!!

Haynes 16th Jan 2024 08:49

I did the assessments last week, got above average for logical and verbal and average for maths. Got rejection email almost immediately. Then got a digital interview invite almost a week later followed by another rejection email 🤣
At this point its just a lottery right?! At least its entertaining😄

flight44 16th Jan 2024 09:16

There is some really weird stuff going on here. Emailed them after my last post here, still no reply. This morning, I got the digital interview notification, then 5 minutes later another rejection. But it still allows me to do the digital interview.
