SunExpress FO Recruitment Process
 

Hello everyone, inexperienced CPL holder here.

SunExpress has contacted me and right now they want me to train for Mollymawk. I've heard that their process (Mollymawk->sim assessment->interview) is very difficult and they have a very low recruitment rate

Has anyone been called or hired yet? Any pilots here with SunExpress experience? I'd highly appreciate any info, details, or help regarding the recruitment process

Hows the prep with the new format of Mollymawk? How was your overall experience?

Hi. The official website gives you 20 trials for each 3 modules and also 2 trials for Maths&Sci, Aeronautics, English. There are some changes to the models btw.

It's not so difficult and practice kind of makes it perfect. I had a good score in all modules, it's certainly not difficult if you prepare beforehand. Currently I'm waiting for the final interview.

Do you comfirm that you you took the Aeronautics and English test during the real exam? I'm asking because we are supposed to provide the compagny with TOEIC (or equivalent) scores and Aeronautics is flagged is supposed to be in beta on the training website.
Also, do you mind sharing your scores to have an idea of what to target during the training?

I did take those tests indeed. Aeronautics is like 3 questions and English is like 7-8 questions. I did provide the company with an IELTS score also but they still do it. For aeronautics you don't get a score, it's just written as "beta". You don't get exact scores but percentiles: I was in +85th percentile for all 3 game modules. In training tests I got scores like ~2300 on TS, 97-100% in SO, and ~100 in WM as far as I can remember

(By the way this is out of context but I have a problem with text messages. I suppose you can only have 1 message in your inbox, and again and again I get notified that I "don't have any space left in the mailbox". Any ideas?)

Regarding the issue you are encountering, you unfortunately have some limitations (moderator validation, 1 message in PM ...) because you're quite new in the forum. I beleive that after posting 5 messages, these limitations are removed. I see that you currently have 3 messages postes, so u're almost there ;)

Hi, does this mean you already went through almost the whole process? I have the sim assessment coming up for SXS in May/June, so I'd be interested to know how you prepared for it and what it's like overall. Also, did you do it in Antalya or Ankara?

Yes indeed. For Mollymawk I tried to come up with my own methods for each module. Finding a "cheat code" helps out a ton. For the sim assessment, be fully prepared for the scenario and the aircraft. You'll most likely fly with a crosswind so beware. I don't think you'll be rejected for missing one or two non-essential call-outs but make a stable approach and landing. I did both Mollymawk and sim assessment in Antalya.

Compared to a year ago, yes. There are some changes to 2 modules & spatial orientation has been changed completely. But don't worry bc you'll get enough trials to prepare.

Thanks for your reply. Would like to know if all the applicants you gave the mollymawk with passed or not? Previously the rejection rate in the mollymawk phase was quite high.

Also could you share some of the cheat codes you used for each of the games?

I don't know about the others. None of them were in the same phase as me either, they were cadet candidates who had to wait for an email to learn about the result: I learned mine right after I finished my tests.

My sim screening is coming up next week in AYT and looking at the prep sheet they sent me I can't help but wonder how I can adequately prepare for this as I've never really flown a multi-pilot aircraft. How did you use the screening pilot who acted as PM/PNF? Did you learn the checklists beforehand or at least knew when to initiate them?

I don't think it is necessary to read and do the checklist if you're not type rated, usually it should be sufficient to just call for the checklist and than the assessor calls "completed".
Eventually a simulator assessment is more about your PF and PNF CRM (teamwork) skills than reading and do-ing the items from the checklist.

Simulator screening session

Preparation: SXS screening .pdf, Lufthansa systems LIDO chart videos, YT videos about type (Pilotclimb, 737NG driver, Just Planes), X-plane 11 B738, simulator IFR refresher session, MCC material on CRM/task-sharing/callouts, B738 checklist

Place: Antalya port in a B738 FFS, at the ramp give your passport and your taxi driver's ID card to the porter

Screening: Tasks exactly as in the brochure, very demanding and not hard to fail if you have no previous MPA experience

Tips: make sure you learn the brochure very well! Pitch-power values are of special importance. Also, SXS claims you should fly it like you do your current type, which is essentially true, but my opinion is that one should familiarize themselves with the type beforehand. Youtube videos from the mentioned channels help a lot with this - especially with speeds, call-outs, checklist triggers and when to retract/extend flaps.

Result: Passed

The package that you purchased from pilotassessments.com do the commands come relatively slowly or super fast in SO module? The mock tests for the mollymawk SO module are nothing compared to the actual test. The commands come way faster in the actual test.

Difficulty increases during the SO practice test on pilotassessments.com, so it begins in a slower pace with only a few turns and moves but increases during the test to a very difficult level (for me) with many and very fast commands.

Still some practice for me on this level :)

A buddy of mine who completed the official Mollymawk assessment mentioned these prep tests form a good preparation!

I'd like to hear your interview experiences with SXS in as much detail as possible particularly the types of question asked and overall difficulty of the interview?

Ranging from hard to medium-hard overall. It's a 1-hour long interview so expect being tired and bored after half way in. Technical questions are abundant and you're expected to have an overall grasp of the documents, annexes...etc. Psychological interview/HR/CRM questions are not too complex but they like to ask you questions that you'll have a hard time to explain yourself. For technical questions that you don't know the answer, politely say you don't know the exact answer, but you may make an educated guess based on other technical knowledge.

Remember: SXS are known for being extremely elective in the final interview. In my interview day, the success ratio was 0/5. They aren't looking for good pilots: they are looking for a specific type of colleague to work with, so don't feel bad or "not enough" if you fail.. Be yourself, don't be too rigid, they want pilots that are flexible enough to be bent according to their needs & calm but not disinterested pilots. Good Luck!

I had just received an email from SXS requesting further documentation. I'm NTR, no experience on CS25 aircraft.

1. From your previous experience with SXS, How long is the selection process and what would be a realistic date that I can expect an interview?

2. What are the best resources to study? I have read above about pilotassessment and mollymawk. I know everyone prepares from ACE technical pilot, but if you have more specific resources or any advice at all I would highly appreciate it!

3. What are the expectations for the Sim check?

First they invite you to the Mollymawk, followed by sim, then HR interview. Pass has an updated test that is quite similar to the mollymawk thing but not 100% identical. You can use that before attempting the mollymawk practice tests which are limited. It'll help you to get good scores.

Same question as kalimera. Is there any chance for non EU citizen ICAO pilot with 500TT including 300+ on A320 applying for NTR position?

EU passport is not mandatory for sunexpress.

Is there anyone willing to share their interview experience?

The final interview is the most dreaded part for many. Usually two captains,HR rep and the aviation psychologist will be present. They ask a range of questions from making you show different countries on the map to mental math calculations and different ATPL theory questions. Your english fluency will also be assessed. Make sure you cover all the areas equally since they try to find your weak spot and challenge you. You could be tricked too to find out how you react.A lot of people find this interview very challenging so prepare well.

Guys, do you know if they provide tickets for all 3 phases?
