No, it's not ok to be paid that little and I've said it already. But I wonder where those pilots are based, because I know for a fact that in many countries a FO makes more than that. Then we could argue about the payroll support scheme available in some countries that are better than others, but I wonder if that's really Ryanair's fault.

Contact Approach 21st Sep 2021 20:27

There are many Ryr employees here that have voiced their concerns and displeasure based on first hand experience. It couldn’t be clearer if it slapped you in the face. Wise up man and listen to those who have their hands In the fire!

UAV689 22nd Sep 2021 07:52

Never a more true word spoken than,
”a pilot is clever, but pilots are stupid”

Paul737 22nd Sep 2021 15:18

Hi UAV689!

What do you mean when you say it happened in TFS with Dac and buzz? Is buzz opening a base there?

TheAirMission 22nd Sep 2021 16:04

Lauda STN contracts are not £40 an hour, those joining are experienced pilots with more than 500 hours and therefore on a pay of £54

UAV689 22nd Sep 2021 17:14

“good” for new joiners, but Ryr value their already existing staff, that staff from pmi and vie are being given £40 an hour to move to stn.

TheAirMission 22nd Sep 2021 17:43

Considering something called brexit pretty much stops that from happening, can I ask where you are getting these "factual" statements from?

UAV689 22nd Sep 2021 19:11

what has brexit got to do with it? The guy I know is a brit, that is coming to stn from pmi base, getting paid £40 an hour.

That is what history is in ryr. You change base, boom, paycut. A base capt resigns, boom next one gets a few k less. Ask the BC in pik…!

Everytime someone leaves, the replacement gets paid less.

How do you think they got the fo salary in year 2000 from 75k down to 20k by 2016. A captain’s basic is now 16k less than an Fo 21 years ago…

Pay came up in the great pilot exodus, sorry, holiday leave disaster (if it was leave, why did they increase pay to stop people leaving….?!) with bonds and direct employment, we all said at the time just wait til the tide changes it will all revert back to type. Hey presto, pay for ratings again, and be a contractor.

Which is why I said in a post earlier, if you want to spend 30 years in ryr, you better accept that you will retire on less money that you started the company with. The history is in front of your faces, you don’t even have to go back to year 2000, look at the old brookfield contracts, then storm (less money) then blueskies (less money) now storm again and guess what……when all these fo’s awaiting upgrade now get sent to buzz…guess what their contracts will be…less!

This is all fact, would love to see the child in ryr recruiting come on here and deny it. They wont be able to, as most are 22 year olds that were not born when this rot started, and they are so blinded by the jazzy office with the slide and too young and weak to ever question the mentality of the place.

And to those that think its just an extension of flight school, to move on…well you are so short sighted as ryr is so big it sets wages now. So unfortunately this cancer will follow you.

Even if you are not in ryr, you should see it as your duty to stop this madness. Because it will and has effected every corner of aviation already.

polskiland 22nd Sep 2021 20:11

Sorry mate but the dac and bzz in TFS never went so might wanna get your facts straight for that, as far the rest goes unfortunatly you are right

UAV689 22nd Sep 2021 20:37

dac did go momentarily. The lads got laid off. The spanish union took ryr to court, and they got their jobs back and lost earnings. The base was kept open after the union fought back I believe on grounds that ryr broke spanish employment law.

took them about 8-9months to get their jobs back but they did thankfully.

TheAirMission 22nd Sep 2021 20:47

That's his choice!

Contact Approach 22nd Sep 2021 21:39

The kids will still line up like lemmings. Aviation in Europe for anyone without experience is no longer a career. Those with experience might find bits but it’s dead. Stop wasting money on useless things.

DeltaR44 24th Sep 2021 12:56

Hello guys. From Ryanair website:

Your FLIGHT SCHOOL REPORT must be written in English. The document MUST also be signed by your Flight School’s HOT (Head of Training). This requirement applies to both Integrated and Modular students. This report MUST also contain ALL ATPL results (detailing any repeats)[
, CPL & MEIR series passes, and information relating to your performance throughout training.
Is there anyone who pass through the assessment with atpl subject repeats? They have any concerns? Some kind of extra check of subject that were failed on first attemtp? What they wants in detaling any repeats?

Cheers.

Tripulse 25th Sep 2021 00:00

@DeltaR44

Expect to be asked why you failed the ATPL subjects and what you did to pass the subject in the next run.
I know someone who failed 5 different subjects but still got hired at RYR. That said, others have not been offered the cadet role even though they seem very well prepared to me. They don't hire anyone, even though the have the money. As long as you show a nice personality, good knowledge and handling, you should be in a good spot :-)

Ferkas 29th Sep 2021 03:44

Hello everyone! Does anyone know how long is taking for RYR to write to applicants to do the online assessment after doing the application?
Seems like the pace has slowed a lot.

Nineshsimbers 4th Oct 2021 18:34

Let me just state that its an absolute disgrace that people are lowering them to the point to pay tens of thousands of euros for type rating and OCC. If you pay for a company who treats their pilots well, a reputable carrier, maybe its more worth it. But here we are talking about Ryanair. It is a joke. Literally might as well be flying out in some outback company in Africa.

I know too many people now in Spain, Italy who have taken out loans, re mortgaged their house to have a career at RYR. Unbelievable.

Banana Joe 4th Oct 2021 18:36

It's been like this for years, with the exception of a couple of years where they bonded cadets for 5 or 6 years with an upfront payment of 5.000 euro. It has worked for many for maybe 15 years? Maybe more? It isn't nice, but as I've said somewhere else I am confident aviation will start recovering.

As for flying in Africa, you might want to look at the current minimum requirements for foreigners.

skygeek 4th Oct 2021 18:41

Today as far as I know they do not guarantee anything after your part with the 30k, do they? I mean - zero hours, minimal base bay, all expenses have to be covered by the applicant etc. Out of pure interest, it would be great to hear from Ryanair old-timers both from the pre-5K+bond era and from the 5k+bond one. Was the employment contract any better in the past?

Nineshsimbers 4th Oct 2021 18:46

I think we are all aware that now the Ryanair contract on 16,000 euros a year is now the current thing. That is shocking. Moreover, there is no guarantee of job security. After that training contract., then what. No guarantees. Just hopes. RYR are indeed bringing in many many MAX aircraft and claim they need crew to fly them…well on the other hand they will retire old 737NGs so they do not need as many crew as the aircraft orders they have….

In the past you got a direct RYR contract and that was alright, but still frowned upon. You don't get treated very well, maybe on pay and nice roster, but many things are subpar. The problem is people within Ryanair don't have much to compare it to…working for a proper airline.

Perseas 4th Oct 2021 20:04

Aviation will probably start recovering from 2022. Save your money and don't waste it in a company that treats you like a slave. Opportunities will show up now or later but your 30k won't come back If you make the wrong choice. It simply doesn't worth it. Get it straight.
