Cadet Programmes

Hi I am wondering if anyone here knows anything about pilot recruitment offered by any of these companies, or any other companies where percentages or the full fees are covered by the companies and how to get into them. I would like to start making contact with these companies ASAP to get onto good terms with them and learn more about them.
  • Singapore (Full Fees Covered)
  • Austrian (Full Fees Covered)
  • Air France (Full Fees Covered)
  • Aer Lingus (Full Fees Covered)
  • British Airways (Loan Security Covered)
  • Virgin Atlantic (Loan Security Covered)
  • Iberian (Half Funded)
If anyone has taken part or knows anything about these courses please let me know

Where did you get the info about all those programmes in the first place? And what date did the publication have on it? I don't mean to be nasty, but I would be mightily surprised if any of these companies accept any cadet applications in the coming years, let alone fund the initial training. Most, if not all of them have either recently laid off many experienced pilots due to COVID or are considering doing so in the very near future.

VariablePitchP 13th Oct 2020 22:02

Sorry but have to agree with the response you’ve had already.

COVID has reset everything, the ideal that anyone will be sponsored in the next 5-10 years is wildly optimistic.

planesandthings 13th Oct 2020 22:10

Pretty much all of those programmes have been terminated and cease to exist because of COVID19, the people on the courses you mention are jobless, with or without qualifications and many are seeking alternative careers given the mass unemployment in Aviation.

This industry is on it's knees, come back in 5-10 years. Don't believe me? PM and I'll refer you.

flyfan 14th Oct 2020 09:32

And even IF those programmes would still exist:
I bet for OS/LH you need German, for AF you definitely need French,
and for IB most probably Spanish. If you speak all these languages on a conversational level, then congrats - otherwise I wouldn't have too much hope of getting in...

Logan123987 14th Oct 2020 13:33

This is more of a long term thing as i am currently only in high school so I am hoping that the cadet programs will be back again.
I have learnt about these programs through other forums however a lot of the information has changed because of covid and the affects we are seeing.
Overall I am going to keep looking into cadet programs over the next few years and the affect that covid will have on them.

Even if I am unable to be sponsored i would still look to continue its most definitely just a prefered route at this stage especially with Singapore.

I don't graduate high school for another few years anyway and free uni education is available in my country. I could give this another 9 years to come back with a Masters in Aeronautical Engineering as well. Do you think there will be recovery by that stage?

Field Required 15th Oct 2020 14:18

The RAF is free and about your only chance of getting any sort of sponsored flying for the foreseeable future.

You seriously asking for a prediction on 9 years.....

Let me just tell you I got 2 balls and none of them crystal 🤦‍♂️

No need for nasty answers, we have all been there, and many of us did not have access to such resources as we have today.
As you know at the moment there is nothing happening, but of course this will change in time, how long is hard for anyone to predict. But you should not need to worry about this at this stage in your life, as you have many years still to get into the business. Air Force as someone mentioned is of course a great way to get going, and probably the only place where you can get fully sponsored training.

As for the others, depends where you are eligible to work, if you are British, you can probably discard all except BA and Virgin, as with Brexit coming soon, you won't be eligible to work for any of the others. And I believe Singapore have very strict residency rules, and unless you have Singaporean residency, you are very unlikely to get offer from them.

You don't give enough information of yourself to give much more advice on this. However I would stay away from Virgin, if they at all survive this pandemic, and BA is not necessarily the great all in life, so maybe avoid narrowing down your choices to large national careers only, as there are many other goods jobs out there too.

I would recommend, look into local flying clubs, when you are old enough maybe try to take a few flying lessons, even try to take your PPL and see if you still enjoy it, and slowly build your career that way. You can find work to finance much of this training, and avoiding putting yourself into massive debts with large training companies. Stay away from integrated courses from L3 and Oxford, as they are just money grabbing machines, and they can't give you anything that you can't get somewhere else for half the price.

Besides that, good luck, and stay focused, do good in school and if you can take a degree before flying that is great, as you never know what might happen, and it's good to have something to fall back on if there is another crisis, loss of medical etc.

Hey Logan123987,

Don't be put off your dream.

For now, there will be no cadet programmes and unlikely to be any in the foreseeable.
Self funded training is the only real option which may sound impossible but it isn't.

I'd suggest starting with some trial flying lessons and if you can, ride along with some PPL holders, then gradually self fund yourself through that alongside a sensible career that will provide you with a solid income, which will be needed to pay for your training.
Consider university and a career which could take you down a path that would support future aviation learning, engineering is a great option.

If you're based in Scotland I'd happily take you on a flight.

Training Risky 27th Oct 2020 22:26

Blessed Logan,

I was pleased to be able to offer my assistance as my airline is offering FULLY FUNDED flying training tuition learning courses of aviation. The Minister of Aviation wants to keep these courses secret, but I want to share this blessed secret worth 1.3 MILLION USD with true and willing admirers of aviation.

please write back with your account number and sort code and we can begin the process of making your blessed dream a reality.

Yours in sincerity,

A. F. Raudster.

(Seriously, this is the best offer you will get until the industry recovers from Covid... ☺😈)

Why is the post above still present? That’s a blatant scam

dl_88 28th Oct 2020 16:22

There will still always be the few who will ask the question,” i have submitted my paperwork and paid a portion, but now i dont hear anything from them, any advice?”
but what do i know, i’m just furloughed pilot.

after this pandemic, dont bother trying to get a free ride into the industry. That is now history, the sponsored cadet programmes are on life support (just biding their time before the airlines pull the plug).

And dont bother looking overseas for a job unless you have any decent experience, most expats jobs are being shaved daily, even locals arent spared. Governments will only look after their own citizens

Even we Mods can tell it’s a joke...

Read the last line.

allert 28th Oct 2020 19:45

Must have missed that :}

WhatShortage 30th Oct 2020 15:11

I've got several numbers, you can contact them trough WhatsApp, Facebook messenger etc... The CEO himself will properly answer your questions and send you the money to start the training ASAP, a lot of pilots are being furloughed so, those will need to be replaced with fresh and low salary pilots like yourself. Also, you might want to send them an email with your bank account details and your kindergarten diploma.

spatston 30th Oct 2020 15:19

Come on everyone, we all started out with hopes and aspirations. Times are tough right now and likely to remain for a good while yet hurting a lot of people, but you shouldn't be so hard on Logan123987.

Flying Clog 30th Oct 2020 17:55

Bugger off spatston, seriously.

My parents told me I'm special, and I know that I am, for sures.

I know that I can fly a jet, because it's super easy, I've even flown one of those fixed based simulators. My mum got it for my 16th birthday, and since then, I've always known I wanted to become a pilot. Don't ruin my dream.

I'm willing to do anything to fly, even if it means earning a similar salary to a check out worker at tesco, because everyone knows it's way easy these days, and I can post stuff on facebook or insta, and maybe make a little bit of money with merch etc.

No one really gives a rat's ass about experience anymore, so get over it. And get over yourself.

WhatShortage

He / She is still in High School, has a dream, like I guess many of us had. So get over yourself, no need to be a condescending .........!
(fill in the blanks yourself with what is appropriate.)

Flying Clog

Another bitter Flight Simmer. With that attitude, you going to be looking long for your next job. I don't believe it's our place to ruin a dream of someone in High School today, by the time he/she is ready, this Covid situation will be long over.
Of course the problem are all the ones who lost their jobs now, who will be running back to any crappy contract they get offered, and then they will start crying and complaining, just like they did before they lost their job due to Covid crisis.

So you can bugger off yourself, no need to insult a high school kid just asking questions, just because you are a bitter miserable ........!
