MiggHD,redo your GCSE's and put a 100% into them. Infact forget about flying and focus on school! These are very important exams, I did my A levels and a degree before getting my licenses. Ive flown for several airlines in many different countries and yes some do ask for high school and college transcripts! Im sure once you put the effort in you'll do much better, the flying will fall in place mate.

This is a very interesting comment and advice, but what is your motivation for this quote :ok:

momo95 29th Aug 2016 15:27

While I can't speak for him, I think he's trying to highlight the importance of school grades across the board in his opinion as he has seen their importance in a number of countries. Could be wrong though :O

MiggHD 29th Aug 2016 17:46

yeah, I am gonna redo this year and in September, ill maybe start CTC whitetail route.:ugh:
and also theres a high chance of getting a job with CTC

pfvspnf 30th Aug 2016 03:45

My point being that I've flown for operators in Canada, South East Asia and the Middle East and they will look at your educational background , not just at entry level but also when it comes to command uograde and if you ever want to be involved with management .

Please remember all of us have a privilege to be granted our medicals every year! If anything were to happen and our Class 1 revoked, we need a back up plan.

Do not take school lightly, it's the same principle of work ethic that you'll require in order to get your licenses and pass proficiency checks and exams every 6 months .

These airplanes are not toys

ROKVIATOR 30th Aug 2016 09:52

You cant be upgraded with the MPL license, just being next to the captain for the rest of your life unless you get the other licenses ;)!

striker26 6th Sep 2016 20:03

Once you reach the 1500hr mark, it will be by the airlines permission that you can obtain your ATPL (i guess due to scheduling). You will still be bonded for the remainder term whenever you do convert. It will be interesting to see when next start dates are if they ever get to the giant pile of applications!

MiggHD
Why the :ugh:

MiggHD 11th Sep 2016 21:32

sudden twang...

why whitetail? If I choose any route its fair to say I'll receive criticism.

Anyone have any idea of when they will release selection days for those who have passed Phase 1 for Qatar? Was ecstatic to learn i passed Phase 1! Good luck to all:ok:

On a side note, the a320neo delay is going to create a large backlog, i hope PW/Airbus can fix their issues soon, the Bakery is very upset!

Please read if you are considering the qatar airways mpl programme:

You are being issued with a QCAA MPL not an EASA MPL.

I started with CTC Aviation’s Qatar Airways MPL program in January 2016 and was in Hamilton, NZ to do my ground school and flight training. A few months in we were told that if, after our initial time at Qatar, we wanted to return to Europe then we’d need to redo all 14 ATPL exams as well as obtain a CPL because the license we get issued is a Qatari one, not an EASA license (even though we were doing EASA theory exams).

Fortunately a couple weeks later the Head of Training (UK) came out to NZ to view the facilities and hold a Q&A session. I asked him about the license issue and he said point blank that this is true.

If you want to come back to Europe then you will have to redo ALL 14 ATPL exams and obtain a CPL.

He explained that this was because the validity of your EASA examinations is only 3 years and our initial time with Qatar Airways is longer than this.
We had 3 stages of assessment to get onto the course and at no point was this mentioned, and not only that but none of the other Qatar Courses knew about this. We spoke to people who had finished their time in NZ and were returning to the UK to start their sim training, they didn’t know about it. No one on my course knew about it and we had two new courses started whilst I was out there, and they were coming up to us because they didn’t know about this.

CTC have not told any cadets about the license issue.

I consulted with the CAA who confirmed to me there is also no conversion in place at present to convert from a QCAA License to an EASA License
One particularly interesting point was that whilst I was in NZ, applications for the Qatar MPL opened twice. I decided to look on the CTC page about the Qatar Course. The first time, around June 2016, under the “what’s included” subsection it stated: “EASA MPL License Issue” the second opening, around July 2016 this had been changed to “QCAA MPL License Issue”.
CTC had been advertising the course as an EASA MPL license issue.
I have screenshots of both these pages if anyone would like to see.

To conclude:

You will be issued with a QCAA MPL, this is NOT valid in Europe and there is not conversion course at present. Think long and hard about applying for this course. Unless you are willing to redo your 14 ATPL exams and obtain a CPL your entire flying career will be in Qatar. You may love it there but if you don’t, you are extremely limited in where you can go (I’ve also heard that Emirates and Qatar have a no poaching policy). I wanted to highlight this to people because neither I nor anyone else on any Qatar Course knew about this. You need to make an informed decision and cannot do that without all the information.

The best advice would be to obtain an EASA License and then after an initial stint at a European Carrier move out there, because all you have to do is a sim check every 6 months to keep your license current.

Any questions, please feel free to ask.

I was also modular and was working full time during training. Took me 6 years to complete training. Never give up and believe in yourself.

DelayReducer

The possible delay in start date is so that once you start, there is no further delays during the training period from day 1 to line check. I am guessing until you start day 1, you are your own free agent to do as you wish. A friend of mine waited 12 months for his start date. He's now in NZ.

Hi all,

I'm also waiting for the Stage 4 Final interview.

Any input from current Qatar Mpl'ers or those who've had the final interview?

Qatar Airways MPL 2017.

Hello Guys,

I am here to ask the applicants who submitted their application last year in 2016 and waiting till now the result for PHASE 1 and for selection test??

So if there are any news please lets keep in touch with each other guys.

Bmarks930 28th Feb 2017 09:55

FYI they do not control your passport or bank account.

I've lived and worked in Qatar for long periods of time before.

You -do- require an exit permit, which can be applied for a couple of days before you want to leave the country. That's only if you're working there under a business visa.

Most expats are on tourist visas, which they get extended twice then do a round-trip to Dubai and get a fresh visa on arrival.

Qatar Airways future pilot program

Hello all!

I am new here (please be nice) and I was wondering if I could get some guidance on the CTC Qatar selection day which I have coming up.

By reading these forums I have found out I have a maths test, some aptitude tests and an interview during my selection.

I have been preparing for the maths and aptitude tests using https://pilotaptitudetest.com/m/. I was just wondering if it was at all realistic to the things I will get on the day (I did the Raf pilot testing thing a while ago. Is this similar).

I was also wondering about the interview. I have been preparing for all the standard interview questions but would like to know how much is tailored to Qatar. Is it worth looking into the various planes they fly and the procedures they run?

Thanks in advance.

Mia123 24th Mar 2017 18:31

I applied sometime last year, and actually forgot about my application
But theyve contacted me last week and said I got through to the selection days in may.
Dont think Ill be taking those days as i have exams.

Anyone else know when a day will open up in June?
