When this pandemic is over. All the malpractices applying by Wizzair to ex and current employees will brings to the company serious consecuences.

In 2 years they will not have pilots, because now they became the “fear culture” company with worst conditions in Europe (Eastern Europe). Their reputation and the label that they have won by hard will follow them in the industry for years and years.

we, pilots, at the end of pandemic will continue being pilots and will find in one way or another our place.

Big part of redundant pilots who re-applied received rejection ( "you have not been selected" message) without explanation. Many of them had clean records and no warning history. Chief pilots insisted on calling friends from Emirates instead of redundant pilots what can explain huge number of refusals.

FPU Romania have provided some coverage on the matter of recruitment these days, you might want to check their Facebook page. Quite a number of ex-employees are getting rejected at application stage, without even being invited to BUD for assessment.

Apparently the "black list" of those who "are not a good cultural fit for the company", as it was diplomatically worded, is a real thing. Once again, don't forget that the labour legislation of most Eastern European countries is not of the same high standards as in Germany, France or most other Western European and Scandinavian countries. You can be dismissed or refused the opportunity to be re-hired with an argument as simple as "I don't like you" - and there's hardly anything you can do about it.

Exactly. Basically you have no rights jointly with the fact that there is no Unions it makes that they can break the contract unilaterally as many times as they want...

The legislation concerning part-time work, unpaid leave, state aid for purposes of job retention and all other means of job sharing and preservation of employment is different from country to country. And that was cited as one reason why redundancies were favoured to some sort of job preservation scheme. Allegedly, setting up such a scheme was too complicated because of said differences in national legislations.

However, with that comes one more inconvenience. Legislation concerning the obligation of an employer to re-hire those made redundant instead of offering their jobs to external applicants is also different from country to country. In some countries, you cannot appoint an external applicant to a position without first offering it to those made redundant from it within the last 12 months. However, in other countries, the period is far shorter than 12 months. It could be as short as 2 or 3 months. So, those are the countries where those made redundant are entirely at the mercy of the HR department now. There's nothing that entitles them to any new opening any longer.

But what about the other countries, with a long protection period? Here, they seem to have found a fix as well. Temporary relocation of personnel from bases in other countries who hold local contracts there. In this way, no new labour contract is signed in breach of the redundancy protection law - and there is still the correct number of people in each base, while any new hire will be appointed to a base in a country with a short protection period which has already passed.

So, as a sort of an indicator which countries are those being hired now likely or unlikely to get, I'd suggest having a look at the redundancy protection periods in all of them. The ones with short protection periods are the ones you're most likely to get - Romania, for example, where the period stands at 3 months. The ones with longer periods (like Bulgaria with its 12 months) will likely be staffed internally for now and until at least mid-2021.

For what its worth, I spoke to a friend yesterday who is flying for them currently and he indicated that several thousand applicant had been made for 200-300 potential jobs.

They have not training capacity even for the people that has been recalled. Around 100 out of 267 people.
last talk floor of Mr. Varadi advise to possible more job cuts if the situation and restrictions get back. The same day friends of mine doing again the Assestment in BUD. Of course everything paid by the candidates.

so... definetly they are doing a big mess. Random Rosters, miserable salaries, fear culture... right now a very very “toxic” place to work.

From 1 September, the Hungarian borders will be shut for all foreigners travelling for non-essential purposes. A similar arrangement was announced for Ukraine. In addition, 28 WZZ routes to/from the Balkans have been temporarily suspended, likely more to come. This much about any hopes of recruitment. As it stands, forget about it until well into 2021.

at the same time some people were doing Assestment in BUD he was telling about possible more job cuts in the future. And the day after he has sold 3 mill £ shares.

25+ destinations from Budapest are cancelled until the end of September. There will only be low frequency flights to 12 stations. Debrecen base will not fly at all (as the only remaining route - a twice weekly LTN - will be operated from Luton).

So since 09.07. applications are possible at Wizzair.
Does anyone have a clue what's going on? Why do they open up base after base, expanding and no assessments taking place?
Anyone knows when assessments shall take place?

Well, consider yourself lucky then. The latest events made it a toxic place. And this is coming from somebody that had the intent of joining them not long ago.

It seems it has become a very toxic place as BananaJoe pointed out, the only reason I would see people joining them right now is because Ryanair isn't taking on recruitment. If that wouldn't be the case you would be mad to go for Wizz! They bound to ruin the aviation in Europe with their company culture and expansion. Lets hope the Wizzair UK is a bit of a different gig.... Since it doesn't seem to be anything to write home about it right now.

Just wait until it stops being the only major player accepting applications. It will be then that you'll see some massive recruitment. As it stands now, many people would happily jump ships if they had the chance to. Very sad to see this happening to what used to be a pretty good gig, reasonably paid and with a good vibe. I personally know some people who used to absolutely love their time there pre-2020. After April, they are totally disheartened after having seen their colleagues being let go in the way in which it happened.

Does anyone has any info on whether BALPA is in talks with WZZ (i don't mean management, of course as they are quiet clear on their agenda against unions). Are there actual BALPA members flying for WZZUK?
