Atlantic airlines sponsorship with muliflight
Hey guys,
I'm currently undertaking my private pilots license and have seen Atlantic airlines Offer sponsorships VIA multiflight. I am considering putting in an application when I complete my ppl. Has anyone applied or actually been on the course? Any info or advice would be great! Cheers. |

Hi, I've applied for this scheme a while back and have been invited to the next assessment, hopefully see what happens:ok:. anyone been through the assessment before would be great to hear your views/experiences.

i heard the last bunch of guys got dropped and also heard of a previous bunch that also got dropped, so sounds a bit fishey to me!

im deffinatley going to consider it. i was down at multiflight the other day, and they said its a good scheme, but i think i need to find someone who has gone that route!

I thought this scheme looked great -and I still believe it is for the lucky few- but I went off and invested in a Class 1 etc etc, applied and was very much ready to go. A year later, two weeks ago in fact, I received a letter (name misspelt) telling me I hadn't been selected, for reasons unspecified.
I respect that they undoubtedly receive a lot of applications, and that it might not be feasible to offer every applicant detailed feedback. This does seem rather disrespectful though, to somebody who would have been delighted to devote their entire lives for the next few years to the company. |

No, I wasn't interviewed- I gather they've had at least one round of interviews since I applied but was never invited.

I don't think it really matters about your experience level so long as you meet the published minimums that they set out. What they will be looking for are people that are happy to earn next to nothing for the foreseeable future, live in cheap digs, work weekends with very little leave, have a valid driving licence (to position crews and run errands) etc etc. Generally a dogs body. If your CV or covering letter (if they asked for one) doesn't portray those attributes then why would they call you forward for interview?

Hey Shaun....they wrote back. Very, very few people do that these days. Appreciate you are disappointed but if you want to a fuggly you would have to get used to taking lots of little knocks and a few big ones.

I sent my application in a few months back. I received a letter from Atlantic about 3 weeks ago stating that I have passed the initial selection and to await the next intake date. I still havnt heard back from Atlantic with a specifc date. Has anyone else recieved a date yet?

I can't see your credit rating being a problem, it wasn't for the last intake. How can a 18/19 yr old get a good credit rating anyway?
If I remember rightly, in the "good old days" the cadets weren't paid anywhere near minimum wage as they are today, nor did they have structured weeks/hours. You are right though, it looks to be a long road from starting as a cadet to RHS. I also heard that some cadets left (not sacked) and are going through courts. Just shows you the decisions we make can take us on a completely different path, I hear the guys that stayed are first officers now. Who made the better decision? |
I will be there...and will be good to find out a little more about the scheme as there seems to be a lot of negative comments on here.

Only 4 cadets? Gonna be pretty stiff competition then, and I won't have flown for about 3 months by the time September comes around.....would it be worth getting in a lesson anyone think? :)

I'm attending the AA selection day this September! Cant wait! You haters should get a life, seriously! My mate is currently on the scheme and she thinks alot of what has been written on the thread is utter cr*p. The interviews / tests / sim assesments are very straight forward and laid back. It doesn't matter how many hours / experience you have AA are VERY funny about who they select! My mate was taken on and he didn't even have a PPL and a collegue of his had 150 hours and all 14 of the ATPL exams. Good luck to you all and see you at the selection day! AM |
For those of you who are fortunate enough to be attending the assesment day, I can assure you its an absolutely fantastic scheme. The job can be tough at times, but on the other hand, the job will not only develop your aviation skills/knowledge but you as an individual.
The test papers arent too tough. Maths - Percentages/Fractions/Multiplication/Graphs etc Science - General Physic questions English - More of a language test All papers are multichoice. I would certainly try to find out as much about West Atlantic as you can - Hierachy, Fleet, Routes Please dont inbox me for any more info as i dont want to make it unfair for others. On a final note, there is a two page article on the cadet scheme in this months edition of "Pilot magazine" which is out September 8th. I certainly suggest having a read of this, as it will give you snippets of more information. Good luck and all the best to everyone attending :ok: |

Could anyone PLEASE post what the maths/science tests in essence consits of? As I am not from the UK, I don't know what level the questions are based on and Im not familiar with GCSE.
Also, if anyone remembers any tech questions from previous interviews, please post them! Many thanks |

Well unfortunatly work called me away at the worst possible time so am unable to attend the sim assessment this Monday at Multiflight. Wish you guys who are attending all the best of luck and maybe see you again sometime yet.

Anybody got their feedback yet?
Has anyone else who got the boot and isn't continuing, received their feedback yet?
Also, does anyone know how many of the people moving on to the next selection stage at Multiflight, already hold ATPL exam passes and/or are existing CPL/IR holders? (I'm just asking, as I don't have either yet, but know that some of the "lucky" ones do. I'm NOT suggesting that West Atlantic may have a hiddŁn agŁnda or anything, when they ask for candidates with a PPL(A)&150hrs... but would just like to know, as the majority of people there seemed to have ATPL exam passes as a minimum, and many held a CPL/IR or were working towards it.) All the very best to everyone regardless of their outcome. Why would you become a 'fug' or whatever for a few years to fly dirty old cargo planes at night?? :confused: Would you not prefer to fly jets with hot hosties????? :ugh: If your smart like me you would have hit the folks for cash! :ok: Training didn't take too long and now I'm flying for Europe's cheapest airline!!!:ok: So long.... To be fair Fred most people just want to fly and probably dont mind flying big dirty cargo planes. i wouldnt and it would be alot more fun than my current job! And the last flight i was on was full of air stewards wearing guyliner, so your hot hosties argument is full of holes!:} Unless your not too fussy?:eek:

Let me get this straight, guys go in and work like slaves for maybe 3 years on minimum wage, can be dropped at anytime and have to pay out Ł30k for their own training!!!!!!!!!! At the end of this 'Cadetship' they fly dirty old cargo planes at night.. Good luck with that chaps :ugh:
And people say Ryanair are bringing down the working conditions for Pilots..!! |
