Any updates Turkelie? How were the examinations of phase 1 yesterday?

Turkelie 29th Oct 2015 12:09

Hi Hagop,

The exam phase 1 went well.

Maths : Excellent
Physics : Very Good ( except for 5 questions out of 40 that i am not sure of their answers)
Cognitive: I did 26 out of 50
Mechanical and Spatial : Excellent
English was good too as for the essay I was very exhausted and tired at the end of the day but i managed to find good arguments.

So in general I did very good in the exam

Do you have any idea how long it takes for MEA to contact those who will jump to phase 2 ?

Im back to Montreal !

Good to hear that Elie,

It generally takes around 15 to 20 days to finish up with phase 1 and contact all successful candidates for phase 2. However, on this selection, they have added an oral interview within phase 1 as stated on their website, so it could take a bit longer to call them for the interview and finish up with the phase. Phase 2 is planned for the week starting December 7, so stage 1 will be finalized within this month for sure.

Hello everyone,

So, people that applied for the 2017-2018 cadet pilot program! Any news someone? Who made it past the first phase? How was the process? Did they give you the final results?

Cheers!

Hey,

We got the results of the first phase back in September. We finished all 6 phases now. We started off with a few hundred applicants, we are 21 cadets at the moment waiting for our final medical clearances from the airline. Some cadets already got their clearances and have already met the CEO prior to signing their contracts, some of us are still waiting to be cleared.

Cheers!

They have just opened up their cadet pilot intake for 2018-2019. Good luck to those applying.

hello Hagop
i felt that I could use your help
I applied and the exam is on June 28.
However I am not sure what I should study to be well prepared when it comes to maths and physics. The samples seemed to be very easy.
should I study like for what it is called GSCE?
And then after the medical exam in spetember I should cover what I learnt in Grade 12?
thanks a lot

Hey,

The Maths and Physics exams in phase 1 are pretty much our Lebanese LS/GS curriculum which is equivalent to UK's GCSE as stated. Do the sample questions, they are important and they reflect the content of the actual phase 1 exams. In the Physics exam you get 40 questions out of which 10 are aviation questions ranging from licenses, rules, aviation weather, instruments, aerodynamics. At my selection, we got a lot of electricity and magnetism questions in addition to mechanics. English is a 3 hour exam and looks just like a SAT exam. Then you have the cognitive, spatial relations, and mechanical apprehension. Practice the samples, they will give you an idea about what to expect. The most important thing is not to panic, cognitive and spatial exams are very long and cannot be finished. Just do what you can, do them correctly. Good luck.

Hello guys, I'm trying to apply to the cadet program for 2019. however I'm above the age limit... I'm 1992 and the last accepted birthdate is 1994. Does anyone know if they are flexible towards that issue? because the application doesnt go through if it doesnt meet all the requirements (1994, 168 cm height, etc.) What shall I do?

Going around the age requirement is absolutely doable. It's sad to say this but contacts/referrals help a lot. I have seen cadets way above the age limit getting accepted into the program during all these years. In fact, there are 2 cadets at the moment at FTE undergoing their training at age 30. You need to talk to someone who knows someone to get you through this age requirement. Concerning your height, they have set their minimum standard as 170 cm, and they are seriously strict about this during the initial medical examination with one of MEA's in house physicians. But then again, you might get around this requirement with the right contacts. Let them know about these 2 obstacles before you apply. We live in an unfair environment, all I can say is good luck!
