Hello,
I'd like to know if you are one of the Beirutspotters group?I saw yesterday the program for 2007, I hardly want to join MEA but I think i don't have ALL the criteria yet. I'm studying it. Are you now in Jerez?
Hope to be yours very soon,
louxoo

Hello,
Jerez must be great! I saw the video on their website, is it as a beautiful place as it looks like?
For the critieria,
well you need to be 19 and I'm gonna be 19 this year but still 18 for the moment.. I speak English and French but my arabic is not very good yet.. I can understand most part of a conversation and I can "express" myself. I also know how to read but most of the time, I don't really understand what I'm reading.
That's a shame 'cause I'm one of the " young, motivated, hard working,
and creative Lebanese nationals" they want.
I'm also currently flying for my PPL near Paris on Robin (DR400).
Nevertheless,I think I'll try to apply.

Thumbs down Smells like undercover Advertisement...

All this forum smell fishy for me... in my opinion it is another way of doing FAKE mouth to mouth advertisement!!.

This airline and school earn big money with your desperates attempts of being a pilot... they are now painting it as a "wow look this and that" you fall for it, you pay them... they win.

Keep Pprune up to good standard, do not ruin it!

Happy Flights (for all the rest),

CU PA.

Hi,
I'll be 19 on December the 2nd. For my arabic, when I say I don't understand what I"m reading it's not a joke...I've never taken Arabic lessons, I learnt by talking lebanese sometimes at home or of course in Leb. However, I think I'll apply..maybe they'll see a young, motivated, hard working, and creative Lebanese nationals in me.
I can also learn very quickly arabic so, who knows?héhé..

cumulus pajaritus, I don't understand your post, of course we pay them for being a pilot but a lot of people would like to have such a system in their country. They hire you, then you can start training.

NB: "if u will r going to be 19 years within next august or september, then they will accept u" => are you sure or you think so? Is it because the training starts in september?

Thanks a lot,
alex.

Cumulus, this is the second post from you where I have just had to go sheeesh and shake my head from side to side.
Your first post was some ill-conceived attempt to discourage wannabes from going to University.
The second is accusing a cadet pilot that he is posting fishy advertising on Pprune.
What that cadet posted was a direct link to an Airlines career page, where they are advertising for cadet pilots.
For the majority that read Pprune, they will not be able to apply as they are not Lebanese nationals. However, you have once again demonstrated a lack of understanding of the current state of play when it comes to the modern "sponsorship" scheme. Schemes now exist where the financial burdon rests on the cadets and not the airline, however, if you successfully complete the course then there is high probability that you will be going straight into a jet job.
Flight Training Europe are a respected flying school and MEA are not the only airline that utilise their services for such schemes.

Hi Meacadetpilot,
I'd like to know something, i'm sure you have the answer.
What Does this sentence mean:
"minor correction up to one degree with 100% correction"
=> I have -1.50 /-1.75 dioptry. In the European system, we can have till -3.00/-3.00 dioptry.
So, can you tell me more about that? I don't understand if the one degree is with or without glasses, and if its dioptry or not. If you don't know, I'll directly ask MEA.
Thanks a lo

it means that u must need only 1 degree of correction (without glasses) ur prescription is a bit high but not that much, so my advice is apply, APPLY, APPLY....!!!!
they will most probably accept it
they dont care about the europeen system for eyesight , they have their own criteria, however ur not that far from their criteria,,,so once again i say apply
i am not doing any add here for MEA, they r not paying me to do this,,,,they can also post here for free !!!
good luck

Hey MEAcadetpilot,
first of all thanks for replying! second my question was:
they said that if someone didnt accomplish 1 year of university can apply even if he's accomplishing in the summer 2007 right?
i said if i do the exams successfully and then the medical check also successfully, before the end of the 1 year of uni; and after all i dont get my 1st year uni(ya3ni ma nje7et el sene) what will be the result?
they will hire me or fire me ?
thanks again!

Thanks meacadetpilot,
i also discovered i have a little astigmatism (less than 0.5) which is not allowed. I think i'll contact them to ask them the question because that will be a shame to involve myself in such a selection if finally i'm medically not able for my view. I'll contact them and let you know what is the conclusion
thanks bye

mr jack : no u must complete ur first year at university,,,,work hard to finish it
luxoo : don't contact them , they will tell u straight forward : no , it is not allowed.....my advice is not ask them ....because if u ever make it to the final medical, and u r a little bit over the limit, they will take u because u will see that at the end (just before the medical) u will be around 20 people which is not enought for them....it has happened in the previous selections,,so trust me and dont ask them

Hi meacadetpilot,
I understand what you say and I thought the same thing.
However, the matter is that I'm living in France, I'm working during the exams period and I'm not able to go to Beirut many times in a month if I know my candidature is preliminary refused. Do you understand?
I think they will tell me by now if such a slight dioptry and astigmatism is totally refused or maybe they'll say: "you can apply , we can make medical derogations"..like they do everywhere in medical exams for pilots! And with such requirments (-1 dioptry!) they may admit that they accept a slight excess.

jack: ur right, U MUST COMPLETE UR FIRST YEAR by the end of summer 2007 if get accepted
luxuoo : i am almost sure that if u call them , they will tell u that they dont accept more than 1 dioptre and they will refuse ur application,,,
so i am telling u to apply, and they might accept it at the end of the selection,,,if u want this so badly u will have to sacrifice a lot before getting it
so don't ask them , they will refuse it

it is ur choice, and this is my advice
