bae systems IR stage

Hi all,

those of you who have attended BAe in Jerez could you give me a rough guide on how long your IR stage of training took?
What sort of aircraft, student and instructor availability there was/is?

Thanks
Budgie

i don't think you can just do the IR there. when i left (feb 03) they only offered ab-initio atpl courses.

the ir phase took me 2 weeks but that was quite short. it all depends on general flow of students at the time, and (to a lesser extent than in the uk), the weather.

mail me for an opinion on bae. generally a pretty sound outfit

Jobs after BAe

I just read that you have been to BAe in Jerez. I believe that their training is very good and the prospects of getting into the left hand seat this way are far greater than the american school / modular route. Do you agree with this?

Have you managed to get a job / interview?

What about the other students...any idea how many students on the Ab Initio course each year and on average how many of the self-sponsored ones are finding flying jobs on completion?

I'd really appreciate any information whatsoever on the subject.

Thank you

Trained at BAE systems on Abinitio course, very professional outfit.
Completed CPL + IR training in 4weeks, 35 hours of flying and 40 hours of sim, loved every sleepless night and would do it all again.

No pressure at the time for Seneca's, had a great instructor who pushed as much as one could push almost to breaking point but never there or beyond, in the end I found the CPL, 170a + IR skils test fine.
