How tall are you?
When I saw CraigL question on this forum regarding weight and height I began thinking "Am I too big?" I'm not very tall, only 198 cm (doesn't feel so tall!), but do you guys think that it might be a problem when I apply for a job? Before I began my ATPL I went to an airport close by and tried out a 757 - it fitted me just fine! I did it to see if I could get in and out of the seat ok and to see if it would to small for me, but it wasn't, and therefore I thought that it was the end of my problem.

From what I can gather, if nobody has said anything about it to you then you shouldn't need to worry. If you fitted in a 757 fine and your movements were not restricted I don't see why it would be a problem.
Any tall pilots out there want to comment?

I have a friend 197cm tall. He is currently flying the A320/321 and he´s very happy. The seat and the place is enough for you too guys... But he was flying the MD87/83 for three years and really have some problems on the seat. He allways told me that it was so small for his tall. Therefor, he normally flights for three years on this aircraft without problems. Don´t worry de Trix, yoou are OK.
I am 183cm, but I use to fly with 190cm-195cm guys on B1900D, SA227, EMB120 and there are place enough for you on this aircrafts.

You'll have fun in a piston single during your training mate, but fortunately the duration factor won't be long! (I can just imagine you shoe hrning yourself through the door of a C152 - it is a nightmare for me and I'm 181cm)

It’s not about total height. It’s all about the individual measurements such and heel to knee, knee to buttock, buttock to heal, sitting height, and functional reach.
Wobblyprob is entirely correct saying that you may lose the front of your shins if you ever have to bang out of a FJ. The RAF is really the only place, which possible exception to the FJ Navy chaps, where extra height is frowned upon. It also means you have a shade more stress put on your heart when under high g loads. But I can’t imagine you’re bother if you’re going to fly a 727 with a 2.5g to -1.0g tolerance.
Good luck with it all anyway. If anyone says no, just threaten to stamp on them!!

I have to admit that for many years BA has been The Airline for me. This is what they say on their web page:
"Height between 1.57m (5'2") and 1.91m (6'3") with weight in proportion to height. (Height is accurately determined during the assessment process). Qualified pilots who are taller than 1.91m may submit an application but will be required to undergo a functionality check to confirm their ability to meet the requirements of the seating positions in the British Airways fleet of aircraft."
So even if I wrote on my application (which I would not do) that I was 1.91m, I would have a hard time faking it as such! I know that I Russia you can have some length added to you, I might have some taken from me, either to be given to someone of the shorter kind or added to myself somewhere else!

Great i think i will just pop down to my local airport and try on a 757 for size, whilst im there i might just hop on to a 747 and see what thats like.Where is your local airport??? never never land???

Im 6'6" tall. When I first went to my FTO, I tried the C150 out. got my right leg in, but thats about it really. I am now doing my training in a C172 with no problems. Whether I go on to ATPL I dont know, but I wont be going for a job in an airline that just flies Saab 340's!!
