Malgus - in disguise!

There was a job advertisement in the Sunday Times on April 6th run by a company call DRC Associates!
Under the title of Commercial Pilots it read " Our client, an established company offering aviation training in the UK, seeks candidates for selection and training as commercial pilots. Applicants must have equivalent of university entrance requirements and be aged between 17 - 35 years, fluent in English and in good health. Circa £20K"
A telephone and Reference number were also given!

I was naturally interested in the advertisement so I look at the website of DRC who promote themselves as offering a range of services to food and drink manufacturers. The job was also mentioned on their website with a number to ring also.
On ringing the number I was asked to send a stamped addressed envelope to the address in the add. I waited for about a week and then received my envelope back.
Inside was the standard Malgus application form, saying you had to pay £147.00 for testing and that they will not find you employment.
I dont have a problem with Malgus but I dont think it is right that they advertise in this way. When I rang and asked what relationship they had with DRC associates I was told they just advertised through them and that the £20 k salary mentioned was just an industry average for cadet pilots and that there was no actual job on offer, just training!
Surely they can not just quote industry averages for a job they are not even going to give you.
Drc assocites have now put a link on their website to the Malgus website, but this wasn't initially there. I just feel the advertisement is very misleading with regards to what is actually on offer and shouldn't be allowed to quote that £20K.
I would be interested to hear your views!

Yeah, my missus also saw this in the S.Times a few weekends ago and cut it out for me, bless her. I took one look at it, saw "Renfrewshire" or however it is they spell that 'county' up in bonny Scotland and tore it up!

Very sneaky, I thought.

Angry ASA

Make a complaint to the Advertising Standards Agency. Alex Whittingham is an expert on that process having rapped OATS' knuckles last year when they got a little 'creative' with their claims; you could ask him how to get started.
