Just to note as well that in previous years invites to the second round didn't all come out at the same time. If you do not receive an invite in the first batch it doesn't mean you won't receive one.

Best of luck to all!

Bond

Hi do you know if you have to provide a monetary bond for this scheme?

No bonds, they pay for everything bar your own expenses, etc.

Too experienced

I'm sure someone has already posted this but just to confirm - If you hold an ATPL or even CPL you won't be considered. I hold a (f)ATPL and when I applied yesterday I didn't receive an email to confirm or deny how I did. So when I rang FTEJerez a man called Simon told me I was unsuccessful for that reason - "This is an ab initio program"
As far as I see it you have two options. Don't apply, or lie and deal with the consequences later

Applied

Dutch nationality, probably the oldest of the applicants, restarted flying recently when I found out about the rationalised Part-MED uncorrected vision requirements.

Came through the first screening with 15 hrs of training (+45 hrs before 2002), MSc degree, no advanced aviation exams.

I'll keep you posted, good luck to all who apply!

Just sent in the essays... Really hoping to get a positive answer.

As a reference: 18 years, just finished school, great interest in aviation and no experience/licences.

Aye, those essay questions took hours and put years on me!

Fingers crossed everyone here Perfect scheme which other airlines
ought to be copying! For those here since we are all in the same boat has
anyone been looking for anything regarding assessment? What should we expect? Is there anything online which you could at least prepare?
Last thing i'd like is to come unprepared and ruin my chances just in case.

Cheers.

You can prepare for the tests if you want, but it is far from guaranteed that you will receive an invite for an interview. It is likely more than 3000 will apply to this scheme and, based on the number of dates available for assessments, I can only imagine about 160 or so will be invited. Best of luck

If you have ever been to an FTE assessment day, or if you have ever been to the FPP selection, then you could probably assume that the format will be similar. Nobody will go into detail here to avoid giving away an advantage though, especially with so few places.

EZY,

There will be more than 160. Last year, FTE released assessment dates rather sporadically over a month period so if you have not received a rejection yet, take it as a good news.

Best of luck folks.

Has anyone who answered the essay questions heard either way yet?

Funky
160 were invited to the initial stage last year, and Alex from FTE told me they will definitely not invite anymore than 200 applicants to the initial phase.

Also, you won't hear back until the end of the week at the earliest, because those who apply today need to be given 3 days to complete the essay questions.

Applications close today - with last possible entry of the essays going to be Wednesday evening.

Last year the first round of invites for assessment were sent on the Friday then, with the first set of assessments 2 weeks after that.

It is one week sooner this year, first assessments are the 29th I believe.

After assessments finished last year, we heard again the following Friday regarding an interview at Shamrock house, which was another 2 weeks later on a date in November.

160 was the number we were told last year, who were invited to assessment in DCU.

Also there doesn't seem too much of it being advertised or much fuss about it this year compared to last two years..

Considering it's 100% funded I wonder what the application numbers are compared to last year. Just my 2c that it doesn't seem as hyped up or 'put out there'. Anyone else get that feeling?

Hi all! I sent back the questions a few days ago. Does anyone know how many applicants managed to pass all the assessments?

All the best,
Greetings from Italy.
