Thomas Cook hiring zero hours
Hi there,
Just a heads up for guys in UK looking for their first job, I have heard Thomas Cook have hired a few guys with only their training hours and paying type rating on A320 etc. maybe something to think about.
Good luck

Do you mean these guys:
Thomas Cook Airlines to employ CTC WINGS graduate pilots | Pilot Career News
Unfortunately it wasn’t an open application process, if you’re not CTC Wings then you didn’t get a look in.
However, it is what it is and good luck to the fortunate individuals who got in.

Starting to look like if your not a CTC graduate forget about it, they seem to have a huge amount of airline placements!! As mentioned on another thread even FR are having dealings with them, something I was surprised about. As stated best of luck to all that got in.

??
I guess this is very convenient and Thomas Cook must be happy with the calibre of the FOs they're getting.
But it seems strange to block out EVERY other ATO.
Why do I keep meeting seasoned captains who say the modular route produces better all round pilots???

I make no comments as to what flying hours Thomas Cook require of their Pilots.
I would say however, that in the aviation world, there is no substituste whatsoever for experience, at least to a sensible basic level.
No disrespect to any Pilot involved, but how might they cope with a total lack of electrics at night for example, when they might only be familiar with an all singing dancing electric cockpit, that Airbus would assert, always works all the time.
Just a thought.

Pilot entry requirements into Airlines
Just an extra thought. If many of the people out there, are a little concerned at the experience of the Pilots in various airlines, could the airlines , be asked if they would make public, the experience flying hours etc, that is required of their Flight Crews before any employment is offerred? Very likely a non starter for many reasons I would think, but is it worth a try?

I know one TC low hour cadet that just started. He is from OAA.
dreamlinerguy - Nice bait, do you troll on the side when not flying? With that attitude you sound like a spectator.. or you just got back from a red-eye

All I can do is laugh at all these 'professionals'.
Just because some people have decided to take the integrated route with CTC and others haven't, doesn't give you the right to start crying about them. Its the airlines who decide where they want to get their pilots from. Go cry to them, don't slag off the training companies which are obviously doing the right by training and picking the right cadets

Isn't the CCO at CTC a former TCX F/O? Also senior management at OAA before the Canadian buyout? No coincidence that there has been a migration from Kidlington to the South coast by some long standing clients I would say. Also no coincidence I'm sure that the CTC marketing has improved significantly - far better than it was, more prominent and extraordinarily similar to how the OAA advertising used to look - the current stuff looks abysmal in my opinion. I would imagine OAA are bound to use the parent company communications team who appear to not really understand or lack interest in individual consumers as opposed to large Asia-Pacific airline contract providers. If I was in a position to spend in excess of 120K on ab-initio training, I would not be looking too closely at an ATO where attention to detail in it's advertising was just not very good. that said, at least the models are getting better looking...
Anyway, this was a thread about TCX recruitment so I'll let you carry on..

About 4 or 5 years ago I had an interview with a LCC, a friendly low fared airline. I knew a training Captain and at the time they were taking low houred non-type rated pilots (about 12-16 the Captain told me), anyway, he got me a telephone interview which I passed and I was invited to the interview along with around 25ish other hopefuls. The night before I got a call from the training Captain to wish me luck and to give me a heads up. He told me that the airline had an agreement in place with a flying school.....not CTC...think of another (you won't need 3 guesses), the agreement stated that for every cadet that the airline took from the school, the school would pay the airline £10,000.
I have to stress again this was not CTC or Thomas Cook, however, it would be strange if the school in question only had agreements with that airline.
