job/internship in Aviation - Zurich (advice)

Dear everybody

My name is Tomas and I am from Slovakia. I am 25 and I moved to Zurich in December 2013.

I am pretty new here, but I believe u guys can give an advice to me.

I am looking for a job in Aviation here in Zurich. I am very interested in Aviation sice I have Master's degree from Air Transport Management in May 2013 (Faculty of Aeronautics of Technical University of Kosice, Slovakia).

Despite trying hard I was not able to get any work at the Airport during studies (because of Slovakia). Only thing I was able to manage was to form a Diploma Thesis under supervision of Head of Operations of Internation Airport Kosice (It is rare that somebody do a thesis with a person outside University).

I have also 2 years full time work experience as an Operations and Technical Manager in 6 screen cinema multiplex, where I had to manage everything - HR, Projection, Reports, Events...so I believe this could be enought work Experience for office. I also worked as an IT support (part time) during my studies for few months and had over 3 year contract job as a Technical Security Operator (I installed security devices) for one Security agency.

I have pretty solid references from my 2 previous employers and also one from school (all in English). My CV is structured and I believe it is not wroten bad.

I have general (theoretical) knowledge in Airport/Airlines economics, technology, IT, revenue management, legislation standards, Aviation organizations etc. and very good knowledge about areas mentioned in my diploma thesis.

D thesis name is: "Airport operation Management Methods and Procedures Influenced by Requirements of Airlines."

This is abstract from my thesis: "The subject of this thesis is model design and process optimization of managing airport capacities using slot coordination with focus on the capacity possibilities of the airport during providing technical handling services. First part characterize technical parameters of the A320, B737 and B757 airplanes with outlining the technical turnaround time durations. Thesis describes servicing vehicles, the use of a Gantt chart as an effective tool to help with vizualization, problems of slot allocation and issue of generating random numbers. Thesis includes generating of primary and secondary flight plans, importing them into H24 airport traffic and visualizing using Gantt charts. In secondary fligt plan, initial capacities of the airport are increased by 10% compared to the primary for behaviour demonstration of the model after data changes. Flowchart at the end of thesis simulates H24 airport traffic considering inputed airplanes parameters and airport capacity parameters and evaluates process that yields into options of providing technical handling in terms of time and used resources."

My grades were good. I was also member of Academic senate at our Faculty (I dont mention it in my CV).

I would like to continue in my thesis and do a external (distance) PhD. when I will work and have practical exprerience. I also plan to learn French and a lot more...

I dont know if my English is good, but as you can see I am able to communicate. I have been improving also my skills in German. A am able to have a solid conversation but only untill some level. A am visiting intensive German curse since I am here.

I am only applying for "Praktikums" in Aviation companies (Swiss, Airport Zurich, SR Technics, JET Aviation, Swissport, ...) but so far I have only recieved negative or any answers. When I ask what can I do better - feedback is: better German or - we prioritized candidate who have a work experience.

I allways send both CV and Cover letter in German or English.
I have L work permit for job searching.
I have no debts.
I have officialy translatted my Registry of Criminal records (prooving that I have none) to German.
I only apply for positions where I fit requierements.

I also wrote once that I am willing work for FREE for few weeks/monts, so I get some experience and maybe references. Was not successful. I alsso applied for baggage handling jobs (weekends, nights) and was not even invited to interview. I allso tried personal agencies.

I mean...what can I do to get my dream Job? What to change? How can I get experience when they do require experience even for "Praktikum"?

I will be glad if you can have any ideas. Thank you for your time.

What is your dream job? You can try to get a position in the operations of a business jet company...
We all have strong backgrounds! A lot of us are in the same situation... No replies or sometimes negative ones!
French and Italian could be an asset as well!
Good luck anyway
