experiencing couple of airline interviews for a newbie!

Good evening everyone!

In this thread im gonna tell you all about the interviews and job huntings i went through!

so i start with a lil background!

my name is abby, im 24 at the moment and due to my dad's job i have traveled around Europe and Africa and a bit of middle east since i was 7! fell in love with aviation when i was 5, and thats mostly cause my uncle took me to his workplace which was airport and took 5 year old me to see planes and that was a moment i decided what i wanna do, FLY!

so i flew for the first time in a pilot sit when i was roughly 15 in a glider down in Neyshabur, Iran!
and started my PPL training in late 2008 and because of some financial problems and also some travelings i had to do i only managed to finish my CPL and IR in mid 2012!
so cause my family moved back to Iran i decided to come back home after almost 10 years of non stop traveling and not being here and work here, so the only choice i had was to convert my license into iranian one and wait for some miracles! the only thing you can do as a pilot here is to fly for an airline since we have no charters and very little flight schools with just military instructors working there! its a mafia!
so if you wanna get a job as a pilot in iran you just need to have some strong connections whom will put you there even if you dont have a PPL never mind CPL/IR! i have seen people flying an A306 without having a clue about how does an airplane fly leave alone knowing anything about the plane they are flying in!
but i managed to enter for an entry written exam with ATA Air, which they operate MDs and A320s!
the written exam was quiet easy for me due to my good command of english! (less than 1% of people in iran can speak english!) so first paper being english paper was a piece of cake! did 50 questions in about 20 minutes! then there were some papers on IQ test which was easy as well! first part was pretty much this and second part was aviation related questions and there were questions on all the subjects we study in CAA and JAA for CPL! and also many questions from jet engine which was logical for a CAA pilot!
so i got a call almost 5 months later saying i was accepted to go for the interview! it was a shock and since i hadn't done my converting yet i was a bit scared, went to the interview, there were 6 captains and another person from HR.some quick tips for guys going to airlines for an interview:

1. try to wear uniform and suit or at least a white shirt and black suit!
2. have a watch in your hand to show you value the time!
3. have a very neat bag in your hand!
4. smile!
5. dont show how scared you are, they know it but you dont show it!
6. if you dont know the answer dont try to bull**** them! they value a " I don't know" and hate "I think..."!
7. if they ask you which of their plane you would like to fly just say the name of the most basic plane they have and the reason being that plane makes you a real pilot before moving up to the easy flying planes!
8. be yourself!
9. they love to ask questions that you said you dont know over and over so keep your ground and say like you said earlier you dont know those things!

so interview was 30 mins max for other guys but i was in that damn room for almost 90 mins!
couple of weeks later when i had lost hope in that airline they called me and said i was chosen and needed to do the airlines medical and security clearance! so i saw myself as a first officer in a white and red plane and went to their doctor but due to my reduced vision on one eye i failed in this stage, although i did a PRK operation on my eye and its just good as new now! but they didnt accept it and replaced me with someone else!
funny part is when i went to meet chief pilot with my elder brother he congratulated my brother for having me! i asked why and he said how well i did in their hiring process! and apparently i was the top candidate!
so now im heading back to south africa to look around for some flying jobs and revalidate my CPL/IR which was due couple of months back!

thanks for reading and sorry if it was long!

forgot to say this!

i forgot to say, for those of you who are being interviewed in non-english speaking countries, dont speak english until you are asked to!
remember they are seeing how do you handle a situation while under stress and your legs are shaking! they just wanna see how you handle it otherwise they must be really good and friendly outside that door!

Been flying 320s for a while and you're story reminded me of my first interview. I am sorry to hear that they were too dumb to recognize you're real talent. Have faith and Good luck!!!! You will surely succeed
