I believe if you got a job bush flying in Africa then only a CPL is required.

Others will confirm this no doubt.

The regs vary by country, but not having an instrument rating leaves you with little options.

For example, in the US, a CPL holder without an instrument rating is restricted to daytime VFR flights within 50NM of the point of departure. So crop dusting would be an example of a job for CPL without IR.

Better go get myself Meir. I don't know if you guys have heard this policy before and I am not sure if this applies everywhere else but in Thailand they have this policy where if you don't train consistently the airlines will even look at your application. For example, after you got your ppl you went on vacation or to work for a while and then finish the cpl later on. From my point of view , I think they should judge each applicant whether they have the skills and ability to become a pilot not judge but I guess my opinion meanimgless. Can you guys voice your opinion on this.
Cheers

It is worth also remembering that whilst there may be a few jobs that only require a CPL, there are very few would be applicants for those jobs that don't hold the superior qualification. For every job out there, there is a long queue of applicants, and basic qualification isn't likely to give you much of an advanatage.

That is absolutely true. When I was doing my CPL training in Australia, I thought I was going to get the job after the course but I then found out that even the low hours jobs such as tug glider, parachuting pilot, banner towing, etc You would need to have some experience before. On top of that I am not an Australian resident, so chances of me getting any jobs is zero. Not sure if getting a job would be easier back then though. I've heard of someone who is not an Australian resident but got a job as a parachuting pilot, I don't know how he got the job though.

There were two guys form my flight school that had only CPL's and were flying light aircraft for aerial photography. The pay was just above instructor pay and they said they really enjoyed the work.
