Aer Lingus Holding Pool 2012
Hi everyone,
I recently passed the Aer Lingus interview process for Direct Entry FOs and was rewarded with a place in their holding pool for 2012. Im wondering if anyone is in a similar position or if anyone can shed any light as to whether or not I can expect to be called?

To clarify for the benefit of the masses I presume you mean the guys on special leave (unpaid) that are coming back online with their leave coming to an end.
As an aside they also have contract f/os to fall back on as well which in the main were made up of ex captains that came back to the rhs through Parc for the summer.
No idea how long you will be swimming. I would presume it will depend on what plans management have for the summer schedule.

Hi guys, thanks a lot for the replies. Yes Im thinking it might be a long wait as Ive heard the same about them bringing contract FOs. Airbus freak- just to clarify I did get an interview (3 in fact!) last year and passed them all to make it to the holding pool. A friend of mine got the same email as you though so I guess we'll all have to just keep our fingers crossed for 2012!

so theres a holding pool of guys who passed interviews and there is a holding pool for people lined up for the next round of interviews. amazing! ha i applied in nov10 i think got a reply 14 months later!

Guys, be prepared for bad news, this doesn't mean you will ever get out of the pool. I was in one back in 2009 and never heard anything having passed interview, medical and sim!!

Im guessing that it's an advert for A320 FO contract for 6 months based in Dublin??
I couldn't open the link either, but came across the job on another site
The reference code for the job was aerlingo , (the dubs put an O on the end of eveything) maybe aer lingus?!
Are they contracting in FO's now??

Hey lads,
I'm in the same boat (received the email back in October but nothing since and never been to an interview). Everyone else I know has headed off to Turkey and handed Atlasjet their 50K for 500 hrs but I have turned it down on the grounds that I don't think its right first of all and second of all I do believe that the days of P2F..ing are starting to dwindle (no arguments in this thread please just agree with what I say
...).
But what to do now while we wait and see if we ever get contacted?
I'm not gonna bank on it at all and am unsure about what to do next, got around 500 hrs total time, got a A320 TR with no hours (again no preaching here I realize my mistakes!) and just spent a few months in the Caribbean flying C208b which I loved but needed to move on (for a variety of reasons but mainly because 'them bitches be crazy'!

18months applying now to airlines, air charter, ambulance services and nothing.
The only way to go is a P2F scheme if you want to build hours, 35K for 500 hours. Well worth it!
Remember if you don't have your 1500 flying hours 5 years after your commercial you have to sit your atpl exams again.... apparently!
There are no FI jobs out there at the moment, because everyone went down that road when the airlines were not hiring, now people are going down the P2F road because they are desperate.
And now is the perfect time of year to have 500 hrs because airlines are looking for summer contracts.

Now is not the perfect time to begin a P2F scheme, and this comes from someone who was just about to begin one.
500 hours on a A320 for example will take you 7-8 months with an airline like Atlasjet (I know this because I have several friends in this scheme), which means if you begin now you might finish after summer, not exactly prime recruitment time.
And 35K? maybe 3 years ago but not now, Eaglejet want 50,000 euros, their competitors want anywhere from 35,000 to 45,000. so lets say an average of 45,000 plus your flights, plus 7-8 months living expenses including rent at a pretty standard 1000 a month.
45,000 + 500 + 7000 = 52,500 euros. Not to mention they can increase the costs at a whim, (this scheme went from €29,000 to €49,000 overnight, thats a fact as I have the emails to prove it)
I'm not criticizing but be aware of the true costs. And this is coming from someone who is fortunate enough to have access to the money if the time comes, but I have pulled out as I don't believe this represents reality right now.
Oh and 14 low hour Cabair guys just got recruited to an airline I know by one of their former instructors.

Defenetly not the right time....
Self pay 737 Type to join eaglejet lionair program, finished in september from a crapy TRTO on his list.... waiting since then and no further news.... eaglejet lionair left me rated and jobless.... only debts to pay back... saw with my eyes almost 30 other guys on the same condition, i don't know why i am the only idiot reporting this but God knows how many others are out there victims as i am...
Can God bless the future Pilot generation.... we have no rigts, no defence, no heros anymore.... just the money making machine taking over all the good people....

there was an add on this site the other day for guys with 737 ratings and no hours on type in Indonesia, the guy personally PM'd me but I'm Airbus so can't apply. Find that **** and apply

Power.r you are wrong. you dont lose anything (ATPL exams), the only think you have to do for keeping alive your frozen ATPL it is revalidate your ME/IR when the expiration is less then 7 years old. Nothing about minimum hrs 1500???? or 5 years????
