Ryanair - The only way in for low hours guys?

Hi all,

I was recently unsuccessful at a Ryanair assessment day
I've been kicking myself as it seems to be the only viable route into the airlines at the moment... Not sure what went wrong, the sim went very well so I keep telling myself it was the interview, as you are aware they don't provide any feedback.

I know there are a lot of guys out there is my shoes and this thread is designed to inspire hope for people to keep trying and searching for that one golden opportunity that will start a wonderful career. Will it ever happen?...

I'm in the same boat Kermet. Applied to RYR waiting to hear back if I even get an interview.

Did they give any reason as to why they didn't take you ? Or do you know yourself ?

Jet2 have taken a couple of low hour'd pilots.

Aer Arann to but on and off.

And then there is that dreaded option of those First Officer programs.

If you can speak German then you'll find on this website [www.career.aero] that there are several airlines including Lufthansa CityLine, Condor and Air Berlin recruiting low houred, non-type rated FO's. But then, if you can't speak German (which most British people can't!) then it'd be no good.

Best of luck to you though!

BA have recruited quite a few self-sponsored cadets straight out of an integrated course, so it does happen.

I have it on good information from an experienced Ryanair FO who conducts interviews, that the majority of failures occur right there.

He asked a group of us to guess what the failure reason was, and surprisingly nobody guessed it right. Apparently its "accidental arrogance" where in an attempt to appear confident candidates are coming across like they're God's gift to aviation - his words.

Im not saying you did this but it may prove valuable advice if you plan on having a second shot. Quite how you are supposed to balance confident and arrogance is a bit of a grey area made even greyer by how nervous most first timers are. I sympathise with you entirely on this one but things are picking up slowly within the industry.
