Olympic Airlines

Hi everybody,

Refering to the latest First Officer positions in Olympioc Airlines,

I have all the minimum requirements plus a 320 type rating.

The only problem is the fact that they are asking for a minimum of 20 hrs logged in the last year.

I havn't been flying in the past year.

Do you think this would be a problem?

Any suggestions will be well appreciated.

Regards.

Im aware of that.

I was just wondering if i would be rejected just because I havn't flown for the past year considering the fact that one of the requirements is to have 20 logged hrs in the past 12 months.

The fact that I have a 320 rating might be considered as an extra qualification.

Regards.

Any other suggestions will be appreciated.

Like most jobs in the aviation buisiness. Even though English is the standard language, many companies require that you must know their local language before you apply.

No one can know for sure.. so whatever is heard even through here is 100% rumor. However, i do not think its normal that they havent called anyone yet..

They did call a few people last week (dont know how many) but they were all experienced, some had the type.
So preference will be given to the experienced ones and i ve heard they might call low-timers soon , if they still have needs.

They hired a few guys with the -100 type, and a few more experinced guys on the (non-type rated) Q400 about 2 months ago.. Since the hiring memo was out they have not hired anyone. These guys were all hired before the hiring memo on their website came out.

Obviously in a rumor network nothing can be 100% accurate or true , i was just explaining myself because sometimes people don't understand that.
Anyway why do you think it's weird they haven't called anyone yet?Is it unusual for a company not to have called two weeks after the closing date of an application deadline?I'm only asking cause i don't know.
Thanks

In Greece they tend to call you right away. Since the one major airline that was hiring in the past was Aegean, they set the example. They would organise a selection process and that was it. They would call you within a week. Now, i guess Olympic and Aegean may do things different. They could be delaying for one of hundreds of resons. Does anyone have any idea as to the number of positions available?

FIRST OF ALL, YOU MUST KNOW TO WHOM YOU ARE APPLYING .....MEANING THAT YOU MUST KNOW THE CORRECT NAME OF THE AIRLINE. "OLYMPIC AIR" IS THE NAME, AND NOT "OLYMPIC AIRLINES". OLYMPIC AIRLINES WAS THE ORIGINAL AIRLINE WITH THIS NAME, THE OTHER IS A "MONKEY USER" OF THE NAME.......

we got called last week and went there for the tech. exam and psychometrics.

tech exam was about 140 questions with an accident report , to explain and give reasons behind it.

Psych. was 206 questions of 30 minutes.

tech exam 2,5 hrs.

some simple maths.

some very odd questions regarding performance.

quite a few on climb gradients, NDB output power to calculate range, resistors in parallel, METARS, sign WX, fronts and FMS, theory of flight, whats MABH, EGPWS, a few on Jeps and much more.

exams were send from Oxford I was told but I have to admit, the paper that was asking a lot of really deep theory and some of them had no meaning when compared to the answers.

a few spelling errors regarding numbers but were pointed out later on in the exam.

you were not allowed to change your answers.

lets hope for the best as there is no passing grade but I believe the will take the best out of the number of people they are after.

What do you mean the exam was "send" from oxford? The exam was a mixture of question from different books and answers from other books. Many of the questions had 4 wrong answers and others had 2 correct answers (i've looked at the theory behind some of the tricky questions after the exam). However, if it was better written with less spelling mistakes and the questions were more clear it wouldnt have been difficult. The questions themselves were not diifficult.

I was told by a Captain that Oxford prepared the questions and he was the one who admitted that they were difficult.
Everyone else I spoken to said that but heh, thats down to personal opinions.
If you believe they were easy then good luck with the TR as I am confident sure you are in.
