Swiss Airlines
Hello
Are here insiders of Swiss airlines? I would like to submit my application but what is the deal with the german language? I speak dutch and have a basic knowledge of German. Are you gonna be checked out on that?

Hi dboy,
Just one minor tip for you...if you do submit an application, don't call them Swiss Airlines. They're Swiss International Air Lines and they like to ensure their airline is called by its correct name.

they are not "International", their office is based in Zurich, nowhere else.
do you see British airways International, or Lufthansa International???

Captainsuperstorm obviously has no clue what he is talking about, or was denied during the Swiss selection process and has a goat to slaughter. 
There's certainly NOT many people who left for 'greener pastures', as it's a flag carrier, offers short and long haul network, very reasonable pay and benefits. There's really not many greener pastures around for the average airline pilot.
Swiss requires you to hold an Airbus 320 TR and a minimum of 1000hrs TT at the moment, though word has it that the TR requirement may get dropped throughout the upcoming year as there's a good shortage of crew.
Pay is not as good as with Lufthansa, but pilots already went on a warning strike because of that. A rise would be due, but questionable whether management gives in to that.
German is, as you mentioned, a must, however Hochdeutsch doesn't have a thing in common with Swiss German, so don't be too fussed about not understanding your colleagues, even if you would speak the language. It's mostly required for the entrance tests, interviews I'd say.
