yes I agree, best year was 2006.
many guys I know, and myself, hired by airlines, will all lost our job.
the problem in this profession, the unemployment time is well too long. Guys are unemployed for 2 years and more.
Ok, if you are single, no debt, but with kids at home, it 's very hard.
this is not like 2001. it's 3 times worst than 2001.
so expect recovering in 12 years. I see things improving for 200 pilots only in 2022, so guys you can sit on your blue license.Demand for rated pilots will be in 2015, then it will drop as training will be well to expensive for many wanabes.

The Market is at a very intersting point: When I looked for my very first job, about 5 years ago, every Airline asked for experienced Pilots, minimum 500+ h on type. The world is divided into Boeing and Airbus... Now it's not that different: requirements start with 500+ h on type, most airlines ask even for 1000+ h medium jet or more. Now, today I am type rated on B737 and A320, having a total of 1500+ h on them. But if I try to apply, only Boeing is possible, because on the Airbus I do not have that 500h on type....

But if you know somebody inside the company, that 500h might not be the problem, as long as you are rated

So guys, keep on networking!
