Jetstar cadet program
There hasn't been much talk about the NZ Jetstar cadet program, just the Australian version through Oxford... Has anyone gone through the in NZ with CTC?
And for that matter, has anyone made it through and been accepted by CTC?
Cheers

Why anyone would want to do either programme beats me.
It's a form of modern day slavery, where you pay a lot of money to get a job only to be bonded for 6 years along with a salary sacrifice which means your take home pay is very poor. At the end of the bond period there is no guarantee of futher employment with them plus your level of experience may not be sufficient to get a job elsewhere. You will have a serious lack of pilot in command time.

Narct didn't get into the program! Thats why someone would write they ran for the hills upon obtaining a position within a course like this.
I look forward to the response, should be another round of rubbish

that's much cheaper than the AUD$142,500 that Jetstar Asia is offering for Singaporean candidates in Ab Initio programme
licenses are the same too, with type-rating..

Well the AUS goverment can cover approx. $85k using FEE-HELP and Jetstar pays $21k themselves, the other $60k you pay back over the 6 years your with them (but don't forgot you gotta pay the $85k that FEE-HELP payed for too eventually)

cos information is limited n JSA didn't reveal much about the financing when i went for the interview..

Okay I found out a little more total cost is $124k, government funding through FEE-help pays approx. $86k, so there is $38k remaining for you to pay. Now i don't know about Jetstar Asia, but for the Australian one you have to pay $14k up front before you start studying and then pay roughly $24k over the 18 months of the course.

Wow, 2/3 of the course is funded by the government. Not bad, really.
No chance of that happening in the lion city. Here, its Pay And Pay your way to the right seat.

$172,000 AUD is a very expensive way to get

Unfortunately programmes like this get their legs manily due to the fact that 19 year olds don't know what is or isn't a good deal in this industry. Black Prince, I'm not having a go at you when I say this, as I'm presuming you are new to the industry and your family has no aviation connections, therefore it's not possible for you to know all the ins and outs.
If I were you I would have a read of some of the threads on here about other cadet schemes and how they have gone sour for many cadets.
Also I would also look at what happens to your career at the end of the six year bond. Will you still have a job? What if Jetstar decides to replace you with a new cadet where will you go? What P in C experience will you have? When will you be able to gain an ATPL to progress to the left hand seat?
I'm sorry for the seemly negative post, BUT, I hold grave fears about where these schemes lead both for qualified pilots and aspiring pilots. Remember there is no shortage of qualified pilots to fill the pilot seats at Jetstar. Jetstar are using this as a way to drive down pilot costs, which is another way of saying reducing pilot wages and conditions.

Thanks for putting it as nicely as you could 27/09, I still haven't committed to the programme yet, but I am asking questions and will definitely consider what you have said while deciding whether to accept offer.
