The bottom line is whether it is an approved sim being used for the purpose claimed.
For example, the 5 or 10 hrs (whatever it is these days) sim time you accumulate during your CPL are loggable as TT.
This is for the purposes of licence issue, but as others have said if you're looking at it from a moral/practical perspective, 99% of employers aren't interested in it.

sim time is not included in total time
total experience at the bottom of each page (columns one to twelve inclusive). columns one to twelve does not include sim time therefore sim time is not included in total time.
so if you're dead keen to include it probably enter your total time(excl sim time) and then list sim time separately.

Loging
Hi guys,
This is far from a new topic and the comments made here are the normal ones. I would just like to add a few that are missing. Total time includes sim time ( there is a definition somewhere, as I recall FNPT2 to FFS are approved)
Sim time is NOT included in FT (Flight time) any time the word "flight" appears leave the sim hours out of it.
Second thing: logbooks have diffrent lay-outs. Refering to columns is therefore futile. :-)

Synthetic Training Device (STD)
Pasted from LASORS 2008
Section A, Appendix B
Section A, Appendix B
STD time is creditable towards courses and licence issue but is not flight time and must not be recorded as such. STD time must be logged separately from flight time recorded in the logbook.

So far... and as far as I can know... sim time is definitely not total time. But, if you have a type rating, you can consider, for CV pourposes, your FFS Sim time as Time on Type... at least the simulator sessions done after your type rating... that is my case at least... i consider my A320 sim sessions like part of my hours on type amount. it is not a lot... but... you know.. in this hard times :-)

Total Time
If it moves log it as total time. If it stays stationary, ie a sim don't bother putting it on the resume.
Total time is basically logging all you flight time like; single engine land\sea, multi engine land/sea, helicopter, sailplane, lighter than air ect.. buy adding up the combined totals in various categories and classes you come up with total time. If you are only flying a single engine land airplane then your total will be time in type, ASEL, dual received and solo=total time. I know that simulators are very realistic in training but it does not seem to impress any potential employer. I can honestly say that no one I have ever had the pleasure of working for ever asked me how much sim time I had even though it has a spot on my log book, I just don't count it in the total time column.
I hope this helps, and best of luck in your aviation career,
EMD

You can log 100hrs of Level D simulator if you want to unfreeze your ATPL.
So 1400 hrs flight time & 100 hrs Level D sim is enough for your ATPL. But level D sim hours do not account as total flight time! (Otherwise you could for example obtain you're ATPL with 150 hrs real flight time & 1350 Level D hours ....I know it's not realistic, but just to make a point)

On my CV I have a little table in the top right hand corner.
It has the following headings: Type, PIC Hours, Total
Then columns down the left hand side: Multi Piston, Single Piston, Multi Jet
The three furthest right values give me Total Flight Hours
Below that I list: Level D Simulator, Other Approved Simulator
____________________
Type l PIC Hours l Total
_____l_________l_____l
M Pist
_____l_________l_____l
S Pist
_____l_________l_____l
Jet
