Frozen ATPL??

is this CPL with multi and IR???!!! If so...when asked what licence / certificates etc you hold on applicaiton forms and when it expires..do you consider expiration of the IR as the expiration of your (f)ATPL??? bit confused on that one!!!!

cheers in advance,

Sparx

I am afraid the (f)ATPL doesn't exist. For that reason you will not find it mentioned in any legally binding JAA/EASA or CAA documents. Use the term outside of Europe and chances are you will be met with lots of blank looks.

It was a term cooked up by the European flight training organisations years ago and has managed to fester its way into various glossy brochures. Commonly the term refers to a CPL and multi IR with ATPL theory credits. Others would argue that it includes the MCC as well but in reality who really cares since it doesn't exist in anycase. If you look into LASORS you will see that there are only 3 licences that you will achieve in your career, PPL, CPL and ATPL.

As for job applications just give them the relevant expiry dates on your licence and ratings pages.
