Im going to AUH as well
Hello mates !! It's so exciting to hear about other attending to AUH, im flying from LEMD and i'm planning to take the tests and have a time around AUH and Dubai, im just so excited !! , Time flies and i keep studying a lot !!
Where are you guys staying? I have to arrange mi visa , since i do need it, and im kind of lost with that, ive heard that the hotel would tramit the visa, and then they sendyou a copy via email or fax, and when you get to AUH you just pick the original one, is anyone familiarized with this procedure? I'd really appreciate the help and if some local could "sponsor" me i would be very greatful, i believe the assessment would be near the aiport where EY offices are, so if youfind any hotels nearby or would ilke to share a room, please PM and we can arrange it to make it cheaper to all of us.
I can't wait to meet you guys !!
Kep up studying se you pretty soon.

Gustavo,
UAE Travel: Tourist: Visa information - UAEinteract
You will get one at the airport in UAE (if you are from Spain).
Dont really listen to hotels as they will always try to tell you lots of crap just to get you stay with them! (they might charge you for visa that you wont need at the end) This happened before to some people I know.
UAE Embassy might do the same thing, they will tell you that you need one just to get your money - that happened. (happened as well for Bahraini Embassy.. Visa was required of course but it was 7 times cheaper to get it on the spot when you get there, so they will simply lie to you, or not tell you all the details just to take more of your money)
Ask at your airpot if you need one with check-in staff as they do have all of that info in the system. (You wont have to pay for it)

syndey assessments dates
Has any one of you attending the Sydney assessments have received the changes on the date and time of the assessment. I received mine yesterday and my assessment will be on the 24th of June 2009 at 2.00 pm, thank god for me I haven’t booked my flight tickets yet, really hope the etihad recruitment team will not make any more amendments on the dates and time of the assessment.

isn't it supposed to booked everything before they announce the assessment date and notify the candidates?
it's quite un-sophisdicated and less professional manner of doing things like that.

Yes, the LON/FRA guys have been notified already. I didn't get in unfortunately. Just one piece of advice. Don't go in there thinking that you know what to expect. I felt I did very well in the group exercises, put forward excellent ideas and as a result our team even got an ovation from the other guys for one of the exercises we completed!! I scored very well on the Psychomotor tests (from what I know!), passed the medical with 'flying' colours, answered interview questions well (I think!) and seemed to have a good personality profile... I showed I could think outside the box, that I had a sense of humour and I believe that I was a mature individual (all of which they say they are looking for!)... Yet I wasn't good enough...
Once again, they seem to be looking for something (that X-factor possibly!) that is out of our control. Age demographics maybe? I don't know! But one thing that annoyed me was the fact that there was someone who was 29 there and got in. There I am within the 'acceptable' limits but don't...I won't go into how that person got there but let me just say that like in most areas of aviation it's a matter of who you know...
Don't pin your hopes on this too much. I did and you need an insane amount of luck (and of course skill!) to be selected for the course. Also, the number of spaces available varied from the start of the selection to the interview. I thought it was 12 but then it was only 7.
Good luck for the rest of you guys....I don't mean to sound bitter but when you have put an INSANE amount of work into getting it, you generally expect a different result...but hey....life goes on.

Are you suggesting that Etihad has their test arranged? Why would they be spending money and time doing them if that was the case.

I wouldn't say 'arranged' but obviously rule bending isn't out of the question. I'm not saying the person who got through wasn't 'qualified' to do so, just didn't meet minimum requirements like the rest of us with regards to age, and his father happened to be a Captain with Etihad. There was also another person who got through who was going for meals with one of the interviewers after the interviews but prior to the results coming out. It just wasn't very 'tactful' even if it isn't 'wrong'!
