Oxford Aviation APP or CTC icp ????
Hi guys and girls, I'm looking for some advice.
I have recently been accepted onto the integrated CTC icp programme, and i've also been accepted into integrated APP Oxford, (sim check pending).
I was wondering if anyone had any thoughts about the differences between these schools and programmes?
As far a I can summise, it goes like this. feel free to add on and correct me..............
CTC icp seems to be cheaper, on account of accomodation being included in the price. (£61,000).
Good reputation, and they seem to give to more hours IR flying and multi-engine.
Does anyone know if the icp people and cadet peope are taught in the smae classes, or is it completely separate? do they give preference (in terms of flying slots ect to the cadet guys/girls?
I know CTC bang on abot 100% employment rates for their cadets, but what about icp? I'm sure this is a new course, but have they brought out any figures on this?
The only downside I can see to this programme is the fact that it does not include your MCC or JOC?
The MCC and JOC is done on the ATP course........does anyone know what the entry selction for this is like ,and how much it costs? Is it likely to be as competitive as the CTC cadet programme?
Is there an opportunity to complete your MCC and JOC elsewhere, such as at Oxford? If so, do airlines look at this in a poor light? ie do they prefer intergrated training to be completed with one institution?
Also it des not seem to offer any skills protection plan?
Oxford. Great school, excellent facilities. At an approximate all-in price of £75,000 (this is what we were advised on the selction day) it seems much more expensive, with the only benifit arising frm the MCC, JOC and first officer fundimentals course. Although there employment stats are impressive, the vast majority go to ryan air, who make you pay for your own type rating (another £25k, and who's got that just lying around after shelling out £75k)
It dos offer skills security tho, and although I intend never to have to fall back on that, it is comforting to know that my parents house is less at risk!
Also, for you guys/girls who have already arranged funding, how have you bridged the £50k you can get from HSBC, and the total costs of the course? I have a bit of savings, but not £25k! Can you get concurrent loans on the same terms ie 50k from HSBC, 25k from RBS?
Any suggestions, comments or experiences would be greatly appreciated.

this is the same situation as i'm in. I was accepted onto the CTC iCP scheme but also got accepted onto the FTE integrated programme. I haven't made my mind up yet what one to go onto. Either do the full FTE programme, or do the iCP followed by a JOC/MCC course at Jerez or elsewhere.
I was just wondering what you decided to do in the end as this is quite an old post.

You will not get a Licence until the MCC is completed.
A JOC is good to have especially just prior to a job interview.
I have many friends from the APP course and some from FTE most of whom are now Ryanair first officers.
CTC will always give a good standard of training but without the MCC / JOC you must add another £5K to the price plus finding somewhere to live.
What comment I will make is that Integrated is the best way to to obtain your licence.
I was an integrated student in 1972 and a family member went down that route in 2007.
Your best plan is to choose on training standards / facilities and of course cost (FTE are € based and anything can happen with exchange rates).
However Plan to finish early (Feb - Mar) 2011 when there should be signs of a rebirth in the industry.
