Google is your friend. Find a classy professional style template for MS Word and download it. Then customise it to your preference. Check the sticky at the top of the forum for loads of stuff on CV's in terms of length and content. Google search terms such as "pilot CV" will show up loads of different examples - mainly from the US that will give you a flavour for how to present your hours. Make your contact details stand out as well. My CV had my name in large font top centre. Bottom centre was my phone numbers (including international dialling codes), postal and email addresses.

Dont make to too fancy, a plain MS Word document is all you need. Your email recipients need to be able to open it, without the need for a specialist software package. Most companies have Word, keep it simple.

And keep it to one page!

CV

when you dived A4 page by width half, the upper half has to say everything about yourself what your potential employer need. meaning that personal details going down to the end of the page (they don't want your name and telephone number, they want your credentials).
considered to convert the CV to PDF 'cause not everyone has the same version of MSW and most of the companies doesn't like to spend a lot of money on new software and maybe they have the old version and if you send your CV with new one ........

Is it worth paying one of the pilot cv companies out there to do one for you or will a neat home made .pdf or word one do the job?

Thanks
SAA

If by "template" you mean "headings", then here they are:

Name, Contact details
Personal Profile
Qualifications, time on type, total time, etc
Flying jobs with dates
Non flying jobs with dates (very very brief)
Hobbies & Interests (very very optional)

As Pilots we have it quite easy when it comes to writing CVs. They are not demanding at all. The CV prep skills I gained at age 16 are good enough to write any Pilot's CV.

A Professional Pilot's CV Services company does the same thing any reasonably competent self-motivated (bothered) individual can do. If people can't even write a 1 page document showing the world what they are about then they have bigger issues.
