Conversion of non-UK JAA license to UK license...

hallo all
Is this possible without having an assured job to go to? I hold a current JAA CPL/ME-IR, issued in Ireland and have found that not having a UK-issued license has been an issue when applying for UK jobs.
regards

The two conditions are as follows;

1) UK resident

or

2) Employment contract with a UK based airline

You have to sign a declaration that you comply with one of either.

Hope this helps...

UK Conversion

UK resident and contract applies only if you have a NON-JAA License.
In that case you can have a validation which allows you to operate as P1or P2 on a UK reg. aircraft until you have the full UK JAA CPL. Companies who do not understand the JAA system request a UK JAA CPL. The whole idea about the JAA system is that you can use any JAA license in any JAA country.

In all the other cases you can change your license from one JAA country to the other without any problems.
The first thing to do is to contact the medical department and have your details send to them. You will find all of this in the CAA website under safety group.
Once your medical has been received you will get a ref number. This will also be your license number. Then you can apply for a UK JAA CPL. All the ins and outs you can find on the CAA web site

Good luck.

If you have a full JAR Licence issued by the Irish Authority then you have no problem converting it to a UK JAR Licence. However, you don't need to at all as you can operate in any JAR state on an IAA licence.

Some airlines may require you to change to a UK licence if they offer you a job as their TRI's/TRE's will most likely be UK validated. Therefore it is probably, administratively, easier for them on a day to day basis for you to hold a UK Licence.
