Thoughts on Ryanair

I want to open this discussion with what people make of Ryanair, anything about the company at all. What is our over all consensus of this airline? And please don’t write back with one wording answers like ‘sh*t’ or anything like that. If you don’t have a good opinion of them, state your reasons.

Apart from OBA this is one of the most hotly argued subejcts on pprune , do a search and you will find all three of the lord of the rings books in ryanair form.

I was speaking to an FO at Ryanair who basically said that the roster is "fantastic" and that he enjoys flying the 738.

He was saying that many people moan about the airline, but at the end of the day it's a great first job that allows you to gain a large amount of hours in a small amount of time compared to other airlines.

The money isn't too bad either compared to airlines such as flybe.

Hmmmm, there seems to be a lot of 'my mate' or 'i was talking to someome' pn pprune. Ryanair, well I would not work for them.
I have never worked for them, but attended the open day and heard all the info from them, personally it was comparable to attending a double glazing seminar. That said I now have a job driving 738's so I have no need of them.

I don't like Ryanair for few reasons:

1) it is a company for people who have money, sorry, But I don't see how pay a TR after a CPL/IR/MCC...that's a lot for me.

2) When you work for any company, others firms, they need you, you help them. At Ryanair, you have to buy your TR, but uniform, food and drink, medical visit too, I am sure I forgot others things... it is insane.

Even when you work at McDonald (I worked for them), you can eat a menu for free during the lunch, they give you a uniform.

I will never consider Ryanair, not only for the TR thread, because a lot of airlines ask us to pay a TR, but if one day Ryanair pay uniform etc and consider their employees well, ok. maybe I will consider them.

At the momen I prefer to pass my FIC, share my passion of flying, and find another company.

I have a question - If this was YOU, as a low hours pilot just out of flying school, if not Ryanair, who? (Bare in mind you would only have 240 ish hours)

personnally, I take the flight instructor route for these reasons:

1) I like flying
2) I have money for FI rating not for 737 rating (huge difference)
3) I only have 200 hours, so not for long...
4) While waiting for a right seat jet, I prefer working as a FI in a FTO that to
be on ground in any others job (supermarket etc).
