Question JAR 'Copilot only' Type Rating on a UK CAA JAR Licence?

Has anybody of you ppruners experienced difficulties with this?

I'm about to start a type rating in another JAA state (fully & mutually recognized), but over there they will train and check me to 'copilot standard' only, due to my experience level. The type rating on the licence will be endorsed as 'Copilot only', which is common in a number of JAA states, for example Germany and Switzerland.

The UK CAA now tell me that they would not be able to include the rating in my UK JAR licence, since I'd have to do all the training and testing as PIC. And if I transfer my licence and get a 'Copilot only' type rating on it, I couldn't transfer it back to the UK until I'm a captain

I thought with the introduction of JAR-FCL things were supposed to get simpler and standarized??? Any input is greatly appreciated!
