Not another airline job!

Howdy everyone!
OK, I've gone and got the frozen ATPL. First time passes in everything and good grades in the theory exams. The plan was to fly for an airline, but now I want to do some "real" flying. None of that automated stuff. Trouble is that here in Blighty, if you've got less than 500 hrs, the only jobs available are instructing and airline.

So what about overseas... where do I go to get a job flying people on safari, or between islands in the pacific, or boxes of white powder accross the boarder (OK, maybe not that one!). I think you get the idea. Anywhere in the world, any kind of flying. Just something a bit different from instructing or airline flying.

Thanks mercenary pilot. Any suggestions who to apply to or just find places on the web and mailshot CVs?

Hi Welliewanger,

Congratulations on getting your licence.

If Africa is your calling (and I have been there), your best bet is to ask on the Africa forum on who is hiring etc to get a rough idea of the lie of the land.

Many on there will tell you though that the way to get a job in Africa is to be there and put yourself about. Mail shooting / faxing your CV will probably get you nowhere there. You have to turn up, with your licence in hand. Like I say, drop a thread on that forum and you will get a good response.

Best of luck.

Whats wrong with instructing, have you tried it?

If you want some real hands on flying try aerial photography, although your right turns will be pants.
