Helicopter hours for fixed wing employment
How valuable, if at all, are helicopter flight hours when applying for employment with operators flying fixed wing aircraft only?
I have 3000 hrs in helicopters, 2000 turbine, 2800 PIC/P1, 300 ME/Multicrew, 100 PIC ME/MC and 100 IFR.
Would this do me any good at all if I had an airplane CPL-ME/IR when applying for FO positions, and if so... according to what criteria?
Thanks!

One important factor would be whether this helicopter time is multi-crew. If it is, I could see it perhaps being worth a bit more. A bit more than what is probably a question for a fixed wing employer.

Try having a look at some of the aircrew recruitment pages of airline's websites; I'm sure I saw an 'hours conversion' chart on at least one of them which essentially factored all varied hours (military FJ, rotary single pilot, rotary Multi-crew etc) into what that airline considered some 'standard' by multiplying by 0.5, 0.2 or whatever. Could have been Flybe but not sure. Interesting question

Thanks for that. I appreciate it. I've been looking around for it for a while now. Can't seem to find it, but at least I know there is such a chart so I'll keep browsing.

This is a tricky one! There is, finally, an ATPL(H) to ATPL(A) bridging exam but, to be honest, I am not sure if it is military only.
I applied to various airlines with similar hours as you and didn't seem to have a problem. The factoring is VERY airline dependant. What about command hours? They view command hours favourably irrespective of where they come from, certainly from a multi crew environment.
A good starting point would be Alex Whittingham at Bristol Ground School, followed by Brian Marindin at Airways Flight Training, Exeter, as he has converted most of the military from Helos to fixed wing.
good luck
