Numerical/Verbal Reasoning test books?
Can anyone point me in the direction of some good books on passing numerical/verbal reasoning tests? If I can get them online that would be ideal.
Thanks.
Thanks.

Easiest thing to do is go into your nearest book store, go to the desk, and ask where the books for passing aptitude tests are. They'll show you the whole section, and you can then have a look at which ones you'd prefer to get.

go to your local library
I know its old fashioned, but its very cheap and very quiet in the reference section if like me you have to escape the children.
They will also have the latest books
Good luck

I recommend the library as well, but even more so if it is a 'bigger' one, as the very small libraries tend to have a limited number of these books.
The one I recommend is;
The Times - 'How to Master Psychometric Tests',
by Mark Parkinson
(Kogan Page) ISBN 0 7494 3420 1
It's a very useful book giving advice on the various types of psychometric tests, example questions (with explainations) and tips on how to answer typical questions.
The author is a designer of many of these tests and consults with many UK companies.

Verbal and Numerical reasoning tests
Hi all,
It looks like SHL are trialling some new tests and as such are giving us an opportunity to attempt full length verbal and numerical reasoning tests. You recieve feedback at the end in the form of number of questions answered, and the percentage answered correctly.
As a result it means you may not know where you went wrong, but it gives you an idea of where you're at. The site is http://www.shldirect.com/shldirect-h...HLDirect-1.asp
Click on "practice test and feedback", and then on "Take brand new full-length tests that we are currently trialling" link.
Hope this is usefull.

Just wanted to resurrect this old thread to see if anyone can add anything.
So.. can anyone recommend any specific Verbal and Numerical Reasoning Books? Is there anything out there that particularly resembles what one might experience in Thomsonfly's assessment, for example? Or perhaps it's all quite similar... if you can do it, you can do it?

www.shl.com has numerical and verbal tests. Don't know if these are relevant to airlines, but lots of graduate employers use them.

Hi,
I have done two major selection processes in the last 18 months or so (CTC wings and BA SSP)...
Both these processes have numerical tests and I tried 3 books. "How to pass Numeracy Tests" by Harry Tolly/Ken Thomas.
"How to pass advanced numeracy tests" by Mike Byron
By far the best however was "How to pass numerical reasoning tests" by Heidi Smith. I give this book a big recommend. It gives you loads of practice questions on all the basic skills you will need for any numeracy test and I really liked the way it split everything into neat topics like fractions, percentages/ratios...I found this book very useful.

Two books to avoid both £8.99
Succeed at Psychometric Testing - Verbal Reasoning - Simbo Nuga
Succeed at Psychometric Testing - Numerical Reasoning - Bernice Walmsley
A real waste of cash and not upto the standards that I recently experienced at one airline. Almost tempted to go back to the book shop and get my money back! Both books very American and loads of useless rubbish.
Watson Glazer/Glaser? is the one to look for. Think some of the airlines use them. Google search them and have a look.

Verbal & Numerical Reasoning Help
Hi guys & girls,
I was wondering if anyone knows of a place where i can get verbal and numerical reasoning tests in the style of the ones they use at FTE? (i.e. emphasis on aviation)
I have searched this forum and been to allot of sites, but they all seem to be generic and not related to aviation. Although i am scoring quite well on these i have would like to practice some aviation related ones.
please help if you can.
