THE day
Hi people!
Had my assessment last week in Dublin.
8 of us, they paired us with the person that was opposite of you at the table where you are given the first briefing.
I had my interview first, very relaxed and they are very nice, and then my sim.
What planes do we have?
How many?
How many bases do we have?
How many pilots do you think we have?
Fuel capacity of last acft i flew.
What was it's vne
Mach
AOA
Critical AOA
What is mist and fog in a metar
How are thunderstorms created
Lenticular clouds
What can you expect to find below a thunderstorm during an approach
Try to be as calm and relaxed as possible. There are 2 assessors.
Sim, we where all supposed to do a SID out of East Midlands and none of did a SID, all of us rwy heading and then turn xxxº. Some general handling, intercept inbound QDM of NDB. Join hold and an app. Some had smoke, others didn't. Some did several GA others didn't. If you did, you were repositioned to D3 more or less and you land.
Looking for CRM!
I hope this helps some of you, I haven't received and answer yet.
Good luck all of you!

Good evening all.
I have been keeping an eye on this thread and thanks to everyone that has contributed and given us an insight into their assessment day and what to expect.
Would I correct in thinking that they aren't many competency based questions asked ? All of the questions look to be more technical based and related to the stuff studied in the ATPLs.

Cabin smoke during SIM and emergencies
Hello people,
From who has been to assessment and passed.
Can you give us more details about cabin smoke procedure or in general emergencies.
the questions are the followings:
1) did you put on that fake oxygen mask during cabin smoke emergency ?
2) FOR all emergencies did you ask for QRH drills and checklists ?
Thanks in advance

QUICK question
Hi all,
My first post here on PPRUNE. I've been reading this post for months, just a quick question:
- What do you guys who have succed in RYR assessment recommend; studying from ATPL books straight-ahead? or just with ACE THE TECHNICAL PILOT INTERVIEW.
People seems to just focus on ACE, disregarding ATPL books.. Can someone who has succeded or is going to RYR assessment help me? Thx.
By the way, applied as a cadet Sept'2014, still no notice by now.. LOL
I suppose it's going to be a long wait if they contact me.

Loan income etc.
Hi all!
I think it's important question for us! Just wondering and asking someone who already have an assesment or just know about financing your/our TR.
Who provide loan for TR ? irish bank ?(which have any confirmation from FR that you will have any income from flying) OR you are made to do it by yourself in your country?
What about rates for example for 2years? If there is any special loan provided by Storm/FR how many %more you/we will pay ?
I'm wondering if it's good to take loan even if I'm able to pay let's say cash to decrease my income for taxing.... ?
Last question is about "deals in bases" the income is in EURO currency but living across europe could be cheap or expensive depending from country. So are there any diffrencies between some countries, do you know what to expect and where ?

Hi everyone,
I'm also going on the 18 March assessment in DUB.
For those interested in timelines: I've applied at the beginning of FEB15, got the "send us your CV" mail two weeks later but replied with a week of delay.
Got the "we'll call you" email on the next day and I've been called on the day after in the morning.
The phone interview is very quick, mine lasted 6 minutes including explanation of what was to be done next.
Questions were very practical on the license held: type of license (EASA or JAA), issuing date, MEIR expiry date, date of last flight, completion of MCC and date of last SIM, concluding with my total flying hours.
Cheers!

Hey guys, just a quick question to all those who have recently been successful and it is the same question as @theiceman747 asked but didn't really get a response and I am also extremely interested to know:
Should you be studying from ATPL books straight-ahead? or just with ACE THE TECHNICAL PILOT INTERVIEW.
People seems to just focus on ACE, disregarding ATPL books.. Can someone who has succeeded or is going to RYR assessment help, seems ACE is enough to get you through the interview if your SIM check is good enough am I correct or way off???? Be great to hear some feedback, thanks.
