CTC - who got through?
Thought it would be helpful if those of you who passed the CTC selection could post a few lines regarding your background, i.e. flying hours (and aircraft type) and also your level of education. Might help us build up a picture of who they typically offer places to.

Hi,
I recently got through to stage 2 and heading down for some ability tests on the 8th November.
I have no real flying experience only gliding a few times with the ATC, i have 4 A-levels, you need at least 2 at grade C or above!
I cnt really tell you any more, jst follow your ambitions and be determined.

FavGas,
Are you going through selection yourself?
There's no 'typical' person they offer places to. I'm in NZ training with them now and their couldn't be a greater diversity of lads and lasses out here.
They specify their requirements on the website, i.e. age and education etc. There is no discrimination between someone 18 or 28, with 2 A-levels or with a PhD. It does exactly what it says on the tin....
In short;
Stage 1: meet basic entry requirements.
Stage 2: have hand-eye co-ordination and an aptitude for piloting skills.
Stage 3: have a personality, get through an interview and be able to work as part of a group.
Stage 4: a) with zero flying experience (I had none), show a learning curve in the sim, b) with flying experience, show you can fly.
They're looking for someone who's commited to working hard and with a genuine desire to be a pilot. The selection is hard, dont' get me wrong, but be cool and they'll see how much you want it!
All the very best,
LDF

I had 0 hours (well, 1 to be picky) and a degree in economics - not your stereotypical cadet but hey, passed the tests and made my interviewers see how much i wanted it by being myself(albeit a fairly nervous version ).
The folks here range from starting from scratch to over 100 hours flying, 19 to 30, guys and gals, English, German, French...... - there isn't a typical cadet. Only things that we clearly have in common is that we're all pretty desperate to fly big jets and CTC consider us to have the basic skills and motivation to make that happen - passing selection doesn't make you an airline pilot, failing it doesn't mean you aren't suitable.
Once you pass the initial requirements it's all about being yourself and trying to enjoy the assessment days (computer games, team exercises, interviews - they're not all bad!).
Good luck!
ah, Lord Daddy Flash, you beat me to it - had to spend 15 mins checking my spelling and punctuation(please don\'t dent my confidence by telling me it\'s not 100%!).
