Question prospects Q

Hello!
-I'm new to the forum; thought some of you might be able to provide some insight...
I'm a UK passport holder, currently living in Canada...looking at doing the conversion to JAA ATPL via distance learning with Bristol g/s.
My experience: 27 yrs old/ ICAO ATPL / 2700 Total time / 1300 hrs Instructing / 1200 hrs B1900D & C First Officer.

From the looks of things the market is improving in the UK; but individuals paying for jet type ratings seems to be on the rise---something that isn't really done over here in Canada; given the smaller number of jet operators and relatively higher experience requirements.
Would guys with my sort of experience be required (realistically) to pay for a jet TR to be considered by most jet operators in the UK before being offered an interview or employment?

Thanks any input; just trying to get an idea of cost before diving head-first into the conversion process.

Cheers.
