Most of you are arguing this from the wrong point of view - that of the Wannabe, rather than the employer. You will note that the original query referred to CVs, not licence applications. Detailing your flying experience with the intent of impressing a potential employer is quite different from proving you have achieved artificial and arbitrary requirements for the issue of CAA/JAA bits of paper.
Each Cheif Pilot may be different, but I know of very few who would accept gladly an applicatant who counted synthetic trainer time in Total Time. When you detail your flight experience, your Total Time should only be time spent as operating crew in an aeroplane engaged in flight. It should be broken down by type and, if you're very inexperienced, by single/multi/day/night/instrument and so on. Synthetic trainer time should be separately listed, and the two times should not be combined. Sim time is not flight time for the purposes of obtaining employment. Semantics about licence issue requirements are a red herring in this context.

THANKS
THANKS ANYBODY.
I GUESS IT'S REALLY UP TO THE COMPANY TO ASK WHAT THEY WANT TO KNOW.
IT WOULD BE FOOLISH AND PROBABLY FATAL INCLUDING NOT SPECIFYING AND BEEING ASKED ABOUT.
PROBABLY WOULDN'T HURT MENTIONING SIM HOURS BUT IN A SEPARATE WAY.......DAMN I'VE GOT 300HRS OF BLOOD SWEATING ON A MANUALLY FLOWN OLD B707 (MUCH MORE FUN THAN SUPERCOOL GLASS COCKPIT BY THE WAY!).
CHEERS AND THANKS AGAIN
